Install Windows and Linux
This is a demonstration of installing Windows 2019 in VirtualBox. Windows 2019. Sure to select the version as Windows 2019. Specify the amount of RAM, in this case 4096Create a virtual disk, specify in 128 gigabytes. That's specifying 128 gigabytes. Go ahead and click start, and select the install ISO that you previously downloaded making sure that is the server evaluation. This will start your virtual machine and start the Windows Installer. Go ahead and make sure we enable scaling so that it's easy to see, and double-click the Window to maximize. Once the installer has started, go ahead and click next. Click install now. There are four different installations. The first are for standard and the second are for data center. There is a version with a desktop and a version without a desktop. We're going to install the standard desktop version. Agree to the standard licensing agreement by clicking the checkbox then followed by the next button. We're going to do a custom installation of Windows and we're going select the default options for the disk. After several minutes, Windows will go ahead and complete its installation. At this point, Microsoft Windows Server will reboot the computer several times while it completes the installation process. When prompted, provide a secure password, enter it twice and click finish. Send the control alt delete sequence by using input, keyboard, insert control alt delete, and then provide the password that you set previously. Now that the computer has logged in, let's go ahead and install virtual tools by clicking devices install guest additions. Windows 2019 will ask you a question about the network, you want to click yes to this to expose your computer on the network. Once the automatic starting server manager has started up, we want to close it as we need to install virtual tools. We can now click the explorer button on the start menu, click this PC, and double-click on the CD-ROM drive, and then start VirtualBox additions. Follow all the defaults to install VirtualBox. When prompted, install the VirtualBox driver software by clicking install. Finally, accept to reboot the machine and wait for it to start back up to the login menu. During this process, I typically make an adjustment to the view setting so that it will auto scale once logged in. Go ahead and insert a control alt and delete command, log in with your password, and once the machine logs in, it should auto scale. Once Windows has started, we can go ahead and start explorer at which point we prompted about some security settings. Click the red X icon and you notice that it has enhance security feature is enabled. We have to turn those off by using the server manager. Going to local server, clicking on IE enhanced security settings, which should be marked as on, and turning them off. Once this is complete, you'll be able to download and install software as you normally would on a desktop computer.
Create a new virtual machine named Ubuntu Server, confirm that it says Ubuntu 64-bit in the version, click continue. Specify four gigabytes of RAM, create a new virtual disk, and then provisioned, specify 128 gigabytes. Click start and select the Ubuntu Server ISO from the drop-down. Click start, enable scaling to make view in the screen easier. Confirm your language, click continue without downloading, and select done. Select done again for the network configuration, click done, we do not need a proxy address. Specify the mirror which we're going to download Ubuntu from. Click use the entire disk. Select the disk that you'd like to install to, confirm that the disk will be partitioned in this manner. We're pressing enter, confirm that you'd like it to write to the drive by clicking continue. Specify your name, server name, and pick a user account along with a password. Instruct Ubuntu that you'd like it to install open SSH Server so you can remotely connect to this machine. Specify done when complete. Go along with the default software that's been selected, and watch as the install completes. When prompted, specify it to reboot. When prompted, log in with a username and password. [MUSIC]
