Thinking about Crime Paper

The ‘Thinking about Crime’ paper is a 500 essay where you will discuss your own views on crime causation. You are required to include at least one criminological theory to support the paper - see Chapter 3 of the textbook for criminological theories. In particular, you are to describe (1) your general thoughts on why people break the law, and (2) the events and processes in your life that have shaped these views. In other words, I want you to provide an explanation as to why your thoughts on crime causation are the way they are (i.e., why do you feel the way you do about the cause(s) of crime?).

· The assignment must be submitted as an attachment in D2L. Attach the assignment as a doc, docx, or rtf document – pdf is not an acceptable format. 

· The assignment must be double-spaced in Times New Roman 12 font. 

· The paper must be a minimum of 500 words in length.

· Title page required with your name, date, and title: Critical Thinking Assignment: Thinking about Crime.

· The assignment is worth 30 points.

Failure to follow instructions will result in a loss of points.  

To completely answer question #1, you must include at least one criminological theory to explain your views. The paper will need to include the theory/theories and how the theory explains crime and offending. Chapter 3 provides multiple explanations and theories of crime and offending. To completely answer question #2, you will need to include events and processes (experiences, worldview, current issues, social issues….) to support your views.
