“The Trail Of Your Blood in the Snow” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a one of the short stories in ‘Strange Pilgrims’ collection (Márquez, G. G. (1994). The story illustrates love, death, isolation, with a lot of sadness. It is about newly married couple from rich Colombian families (Billy Sanchez and Nena Daconte), who travel to Europe or their honeymoon celebration. However, during the honey moon Nena who is two months pregnant dies from a sample scratch on her ring finger. In the hospital, which she was admitted, visitations were only allowed once a week, which is on Tuesday. Therefore, this meant Billy had to wait for six days in order to see his wife.

This events led to isolation, and Billy spending most of his time alone in a hotel nearby. However, even though Billy tried to visit his wife sooner, the hospital could not allow him. However, when the visiting day finally arrived, Billy was unable to allocate his wife. But the physician who had evaluated his wife first regretfully tells him that Nena died six hours after being admitted and no one could find him to break the new to him (Garcia Marquez, G. (2005). In fact, Nena’s family had already transported the body and arranged for the funeral. From Billy’s story, the author portrays how some rules in new countries can led to isolation as well as end in sadness. Hospital rules in this new country isolated Billy from his wife, leading to communication break down and getting the saddest news about his wife’s death.
