This step sets you up for success on our project by asking you to start a document and give it

all the required formatting elements we'll use this term.

Our class styleguide provides a complete inventory of formatting,

referencing and citation rules for this class.  Please be sure to use it as

you create your Project!

The Assignment Create a properly formatted �le in your word processor of choice.  Your �nished �le will be

four pages long: a title page, a change log page, a page with a double-spaced paragraph of

text and a single-spaced three-column table, and a reference page with one properly

formatted reference citation.  Save, print or export your work to pdf and submit it to the

Step 0 assignment folder.

Step-by-Step

Create a new �le in your word processing program of choice (google docs, MS Word,

LaTeX, or other).  Name and save the �le. 

File naming:  include your name in the �le name, do not use special characters ('&',

'%', '(' etc). 

Create a title page that contains at least:  a title for your project (you can change this

any time), the date that you're writing it, and your name.

Add a page header that includes your name and a page number.

Add an honor footnote that says who, if anyone, helped you on the assignment and

that takes responsibility for errors.

Add a hard page break.

At the top of page 2, write 'Change Log'.  Leave the rest of the page blank.

At the top of page 3, write a short paragraph of text.  It can say anything.  Double-space

the paragraph.

After the paragraph, add a table that has three columns and at least 2 rows.  Use the

column headers 'pronunciation', 'meaning', and 'note'.

Note:

At the top of page 4, write the heading 'References'.  Then use our course style guide to

create a complete reference citation for any class reading you'd like.

Save your work where you can �nd it again, and export, download or print the �le as a

pdf.  Then upload the �le to the Assignment folder for Step 0!

you to take 20-30 minutes for this assignment.

Grading Rubric

To be eligible for a grade, your work must be submitted as a pdf �le to

the correct assignment folder.  We do not accept assignments by

email.  If you experience a technical dif�culty with your upload,

contact the 24/7 IT Support Desk and document that contact.  Then

revised for the next step under based on your own insights and goals. 

These levels of attainment are used when you have met the minimum requirements

we've provided.

This means that you should look for opportunities to improve your assignment

based on your own ideas and preferences, still in keeping with assignment rules. 

You may receive suggestions from your grader, and if you do, you must address

them. 

Assessments in these categories, handled as suggested here, represent excellent

progress to a high course grade!

Assignments that earn 'intermediate' or 'beginner' assessments should be revised for

the next step under the primary guidance of the grader's comments, and with careful

review of the instructions given here. 

These levels of attainment are used when your work is not fully compliant with the

minimum requirements we've provided.

You will receive suggestions from your grader, and you must address them.

Excellent strategies for addressing 'intermediate' or 'beginner' assessments include

discussing your work with peers, visiting instructors during of�ce hours or by

The only way an assignment score can 'damage' your course grade is for you to ignore it or

fail to respond productively.  Any score can be problematic if you do not productively revise

your work.
