“Defend what Christians should mean by 1 Tim 2:3-4, ‘This is good and pleasing to God our savior, who wills everyone to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth,’ (NAB)”
This scripture is composed of two different verses, in order to accurately explain, I’ve broken the verses up. The first verse, 1Tim 2:3 “This is good and pleasing to God our savior” is very direct and easily to interpret. This verse is supporting that prayer be offered for all conditions of men is good and acceptable before God. Verses leading up to this one speaks about entreaties, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings being offered for all people. The second part of this scripture, “…who wills everyone to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth” covers salvation and human’s recognition of God.
When referring to 1 Tim 2:3-4, humans should imply that we pray that those who are lost, find God and be rewarded salvation and also that those who are rewarded salvation continue to have a close relationship with God and His grace.
