Contextualized images

Every image must be clearly referenced in the text. You will assign each image a figure number, in order of appearance. You may refer to these by their abbreviations: Fig. 1, Fig. 2. Within the actual text of your essay, you should mention each image. Here are a few examples of what this might look like:

Martha Graham studied dance in her teens in Los Angeles (see Fig. 1)

As seen in Fig. 2, Martha Graham began performing at a young age.

In Fig. 4, Graham's signature "contraction and release" technique is demonstrated by two dancers.

Graham's legacy continues today. Tributes to her work continue to appear on stage, such as the one pictured in Fig.6, from a performance in 2018 by the TCU Dance Company.

Captions and Citations

The images should help you in your argument/development of your thesis. Each image should be captioned. Each image should also be fully cited. This means you have two options. You can include your citation in the image caption (in which case, the images are not included in your bibliography), or you can include a descriptive caption, and then include a "List of Figures" in your bibliography. Your spacing and formatting of the actual paper may make one of these a better option for you. There is more information on citing images here  https://sites.google.com/a/colgate.edu/colgatevr/citing-images/citing-images-mla :

Placement of Images

You may choose to embed your images into the actual text of your essay, or you may choose to include them at the end of the essay, and thus not worry about formatting text-wrapping, etc.

Embedded Video Hyperlink and Citation

Please include a live link to an exemplary video example of your topic (highlighted within the text). You should reference the video in the body of your essay, so that it is clear why it is exemplary, and embed the link (highlighted) into the essay at the point of reference. The video should be fully cited in your works cited at the end of the essay.

In-Text Citations

According to MLA style, include in-text parenthetical citations for all referenced work, including paraphrases, direct quotes, and attributed information.

Works Cited (Bibliography)

Your Works Cited should include a a minimum of 2 scholarly sources and relevant hyperlinks for all entries.

· Your scholarly sources should be highlighted in yellow.

Include the full citation of your example video, as well.

If your images are not fully cited in the captions, please do so in a List of Figures.

Format

Your final submission must be saved and submitted as a PDF.
