The Role of Communication in Business Relationships
1. Tourish, D. (2014). Leadership, more or less? A processual, communication perspective on the role of agency in leadership theory. Leadership, 10(1), 79-98.
This article was written by Dennis Tourish that mainly represents the importance of communication in different business relationships (Tourish, 2014). Leadership plays a great role in this context. According to the author, better leadership has remained a popular solution for climate change and business problems. However, communication is one of the best solutions procured by a leader to solve any type of conflict or problem in a business. There has been a growing concern regarding traditional approaches to the subject that have some oppressive power relationships. The main goal of this article was to determine different deficiencies in the leader through which they cannot occupy formal leadership roles.
The methods used by the researcher are based on observation and organizational research methods (Tourish, 2014). Different theories and models have been observed by the researcher to understand the implication of communication in leadership. Different organizational actors have played some formal leadership roles. According to the author, different followers of leader agency have been using false methods to address the problems in the business. There is a need to understand a better method related to communication to solve these matters. A wide range of literature has been conducted by the author in which she has taken different journal articles and books to prove her arguments.
According to the findings of the research, communication of organization are suggested to be the best approach that can be practiced by leaders (Tourish, 2014). Communication is compatible with certain social and business structures. It plays a great role in the construction of organizational actors in which facilitation of disagreement creates conflicts. The author has also emphasized the traditional stress that is created due to the achievement of cohesion in some cases. Communication can be the best resolution for every type of need in the business setting.
2. Lam, C. (2015). The role of communication and cohesion in reducing social loafing in group projects. Business and Professional Communication Quarterly, 78(4), 454-475.
This article, written by Chris Lam is basically related to the role of communication in reducing social loafing (Lam, 2015). Social loafing is a tendency to put less effort when an individual is a part of a group. It basically occurs when there is poor communication between the members of the group. Communication plays a great role in the determination and encouragement of team members. The goals of the project cannot be achieved without the practice of communication in a team. The main aim of the following research article was to investigate the influence of social loafing on business relationships, which occurs due to inadequate communication between members.
In this research, the author used primary methods to collect information. He used the set-up factors model for the research in which group size, scope of the project and peer review of other journal articles were included. The method of team formation was then tested for the means of comparison. For the study, about 445 participants were taken which were enrolled in the technical and professional communication courses (Lam, 2015). A mix population was suggested for this study. The participants who completed the course during spring were involved in the stud. A survey was formed in which certain questions were involved regarding the research question.
The findings of the study indicated that the quality of communication and task cohesion plays a great role in the formation of a team (Lam, 2015). Both of the terms have a great influence on social loafing. The basic limitation of the study was related quantitative approach, which restricts the depth and personal feedback of the researcher. In this article, the author also provided some suggestions to develop the communication styles of the participants in order to avoid social loafing. It is important that every team member understands their own team mate’s communication tendencies.
3. Tang, K. N. (2019). Communication Skills of Business Leader. In Leadership and Change Management (pp. 63-68). Springer, Singapore.
Tang conducted research on the importance of communication skills in business and organizations (Tang, 2019). This article serves with the information that communication skills are a ladder for a successful business. In actual fact, this article is divided into four types of communication skills, which involve verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills. It has been found that a basic understanding of all the significant factors of the general model of communication is very much necessary for expanding the business, and the basic part of this article contains the SMCR communication model.
This model contains source, message, channel, and receiving communication skills in which one way and two-way communication skills both are included. Channels of communication are the method for the transformation of exchanging symbols and sources in any communication process for senders and receivers and their reviews and feedbacks.
The last thing which is included in this model is the discussion of interrelationships among the components of communication in context, and this followed by focusing on the Classical theory of social networking just for the enhancement of efficiency and productivity of business through effective communication. This last part of the article actually presents all the significant information about the role of business communication in management, controlling decisions, and execution of plans.
According to the author, it is the mutual understanding cooperation in any organization which is responsible for effective communication skills and negotiates the goals of the organization. Well, it will develop an effective and working relationship not only with the workforces in the offices but with the competitors and the customers of the organizations that will directly impart a positive impact of the morale and efficiency of the company. This model of communication is responsible for effective communication because it involves the policy of courtesy and mutual understanding in organizations (Tang, 2019).

Tang in 2019 conducted research on the effect of leadership and communication in business organizations, and it is found in the research both leadership, and effective communication are highly significant for a successful business. This article basically covers all the basic information and key terminologies essential for introducing the basics of leadership and transformation of management and organizational structure in the business organization.
Besides this, the interrelationship among the leadership, management transformation, and organizational structure is defined in this article. It has been described that leadership skills are highly essential as they affect the business outcomes and transformation of business procedures. All the changes in the organizational structure due to leadership skills in the articles have been specifically highlighted as one of the major results of this research.
It has been described in this article that communication skills in business organizations are highly dependent upon leaders, and their leadership skills and totally 10 leadership skills have been suggested by the author for the increment of productivity of business in which communication skills are at the top of the list and rest of them include positivity, motivation, atmosphere of trust, creativity and innovation.
Leaders actually communicate the visions and goals set by the company and provide motivation to the workers through effective communication skills. While the lack of communication in any organization makes the workers non-trustworthy, and the workers of the company usually fail in the maintenance of transparent productivity and barrier due to lack of communication is developed in the workers and authorities of the company. This will indirectly make the workers doubtful about the security of their jobs and will decrease their confidence in the company. Thus, no one in the company will freely express their opinions and reviews about the goals, and this will be due to a lack of effective communication and leadership skills (Tang, Leadership in Business Organization., 2019).
5. Baporikar, N. (2017). Organization Communiqué Effect on Job Satisfaction and Commitment in Namibia. International Journal of Service Science, Management, Engineering, and Technology (IJSSMET), 8(4), 19-41.
Baporikar conducted an organizational research communication in 2017 and on the observation of communication on job satisfaction of employees in Namibia (Baporikar, 2017). It was found in the research that in contemporary organizations, human resources are considered as one of the most significant assets. Scholars have defined organizational communication, the one in which free expression of opinions occurs between individuals in organizational settings.
All the activities which are utilized for conveying messages either through channels or verbally are included in the means of communication skills, and it has been found that communication is the only tool due to which employees and the management team both can be satisfied with the decisions taken in the organizations.
It has been found that informational through communique will be transferred to internal and external stakeholders of the company, and for this purpose, some specific strategies are being implemented for enabling simplification in the decision-making process of the company. Besides this, the effects of the lack of effective and open communication in organizations have also been provided in this article. The author presents a deep connection between organization commitment and job satisfaction of the employees, and this relationship is considered as one of the significant factors which are necessary to have existed than to be proven in the organization.
Services are those driving forces that will create values for the consumers according to recent and novel trends of business, and these trends are distributed according to the high level of effectiveness, accountability, governance, and cost-effectiveness of the company. It has been found that with the innovative technology, effective communication not only enhances the outcomes of the organization but also imparts a dynamic role for the surety of commitment of workforces. Despite this awareness to the people, there is still found a gap in the understanding and identification of signs of organization communication, especially in the Namibian context (Baporikar, 2017).
