Final Project Details
1. This analysis should be a minimum of 10 to 12 pages, but it should not exceed 15 pages. You are required to use a minimum of 10 (10) outside sources, in addition to course materials. The outside sources used must be academic or scholarly; thus, websites are generally not appropriate.
2. You should follow the APA citation guidelines. (Use peer reviewed journal articles, edited books published by academic presses)
3. This analysis should be both descriptive and informative. Therefore, using and explaining examples, and supporting those ideas with evidence effectively, are necessary to receive high marks on the assignment.
4. Be sure to pay close attention to everything covered in the course so that your analysis will be both fruitful and credible.
5. Most importantly, the analysis should demonstrate your understanding of course concepts and themes and your ability to apply them in the analysis of a media text.
6. The following four (4) components are required: formal outline, final paper, instructor feedback form, and two paragraph reflection on the process and a summary of feedback received and how it was used in completing the project.
7. Paper must be at least 10-12 pages
Final Project Outline & Paper Structure
I. Introduction
A. Background Information (Provide background on the subject matter and selected text.)
B. Indicate course themes and related concepts used in framing the analysis of the text, and explain why and how they were selected to shape the analysis.
C. Thesis/Preview: Provide an overview of what will be discussed and highlighted in the analysis. Indicate the major themes, main ideas, and or connotative/myth meanings that will be addressed in the paper.
II. Body
Discuss each of the themes previewed in the introduction along with their meanings. Be sure to support your ideas by citing outside sources and course materials. Each theme/idea discussed should be well developed and examples should be provided. The themes will vary depending on the number of signifiers/scenes from the text that fall under each theme. This section should be the most developed portion of the outline and paper. It should detail everything that will be addressed or discussed in the paper and presentation.
