Since I have started ENGR 1201, I recognized my abilities and how they developed during the semester. I was not able to manage my time before the engineering class. At the beginning of the semester, I faced a lot of difficulties due to the high number of assignments in the ENGR class. So, I got a lot of low grades, and I missed some of the assignments. Through the semester I learned how to manage my time perfectly. I started to write down my agenda and read it before every week, so I have time to work on my assignment before the due date which helped a lot to increase my degree.
Furthermore, I usually like to study after every class, so I have much time to ask my professor about unknowing questions. also, I usually study two days before the exam which leads me to have time to review. Because of the high amount of assignments this semester I don’t have time to study after each lesson which led me to get a low grade on the second midterm exam.
On the other hand, the ENGR1201 class shaped my awareness of the surrounding world. This class gave me the opportunity to know the world from the outside looking. I worked with four people who are different than me. They have different culture, background, nationality, language, gender, and thought. So, I learn how to judge each one from his ability, treatment, and thought. I did not judge any body through their color, religion, culture, or nationality. I learned how every person imposes it respect. Because I study abroad I met a lot of international people. I learned about many cultures so I have the ability to accept any body and appreciate them from the outside looking.
My culture and experience played a significant role in shaping my own predispositions, values, expectations, and capacities. Predispositions were affected by culture and experience. For example, I chose the engineering major because of my own experience in engineering. Also, I have a tendency in poetry because Arabic culture is known for poetry. Also, all my values came from my culture and experience. For example, the ethics is the most important thing in my value because my culture encourages ethics. Additionally, I met a lot of people who lack respect so I started to boost this value. Furthermore, Because of my experience in studying abroad and meeting different people I can expect the consequences of every single thing. Lastly, my culture did not support my capacity enough but my experience supports them. America learned me how to speak another language, how to study one of the
most difficult major in my second language, how to be far from my family and friends. Studying abroad is the best way to learn about myself. So my experience builds my personality, ability, and values.
I openness to others point of view and I accept everybody with different perspectives. For example, I like to lessen to everyone and get what I like without judging anybody. For example, in any arguing situation I prefer to lessen until the person stops talking then I start to show him my point of view. If I feel this argument will be end with bad results, I also prefer to cut the discussion. Moreover, I have the flexibility to change my view by lessening to others. For example, I changed my idea towered Indian culture after to lesson to one of my friends. Finally, I am a friendly person and I have a lot of friends from different countries because I can accept everybody view.
