Thelake-2.docx

The young man sits on the dock in shock of what just happened. As he looks out, he notices the peacefulness of the water. Gentle waves crash against the rocks unaware of what took place. The fish in the lake splash around in the fading sunlight in search of their next meal. The lake with its vibrate shades of blue, pink, orange, and red as the sun in fading into the earth seems to call to him. He stares deep into the water trying to see if it’s a dream or not. A wave rocks the dock and splashes his face, no, it is definitely not a dream. As the water slides down his face a tear meets it collects against his chin and drops off his face onto his pants as if the lake is trying to wash the stains off his pants. He looks out and wonders what all this lake as seen in its many years. Has it seen more things like what he’s done? Or does it just forget like the rest of the world and just keep spinning? The sand is broken up where the man just was. Footprints that were once there are eaten up as the water slides up and down the coast. The water reaches out to the man to comfort him but cannot reach him. He wishes he could just jump in and forget about what he has done. The lake would be much more forgiving than he was. He could just float away from all his troubles and worries on the top of the water. The lake would gently rock him to sleep if not forever but, just long enough for him to escape the harsh reality of the world for a while.as he would rock on the tops of the water he would drift off into a better place one of his own imaginations. Some place happy some place without sorrow someplace without regret and pain someplace clean and free someplace dry someplace other than the lake. The water slaps his face as the sky turns from its vibrant colors to pitch black. The lake has taken a new form one of nothingness. What was once shades of many colors is now shades of dark blue and black ones much like how the man is feeling inside. The lake is no longer a welcoming place in a matter of minutes the once calm lake now seems to be an endless bottomless void. No more fish jump to catch food no more white peaks of waves rushing to meet the land. Just emptiness all around him. The man wants to jump off into the lake to be surrounded by the void and accept his fate whatever it may be.
