We will discuss in class how to analyze the charging and discharging of an RC series circuit. Figure 1 demonstrates the original circuit (a), the charging circuit (b) and the discharging circuit (c), the third drawing should be (c).

1) Assume V = 15V, R = 4.7k and C = 1.5uF, find the following,

a) Tau = ?_________ 5 x tau = ?_________

b) If at t = 0 seconds the switch is moved to position A, create a plot of the response of this circuit for five time constants (5 x tau). Place the plot here,

c) What is the terminal voltage on the capacitor (from Excel)?

2) Assume at five time constants the switched is move from position A to B.

a) If the switch remains closed for another 5 time constants show the plot with both charging and discharging waveforms (10 time constants). Place that plot here,

b) What is the terminal voltage on the capacitor (from Excel)?

Format the plots to show any pertinent information (plot title, axis titles, voltage at tau).

The final plot should look something like the following, except the values will be different.
