Annotated Bibliography
Critical Preface Comment by Carol Johnson: Here is what you must include in this paragraph: (See the document “What to put in the Critical Preface in Module 2 and Module 0)
---the reason why you are preparing the bibliography—e.g. This annotated bibliography represents the research I have conducted to conduct my argument in a research paper.
---Your research question/s.
---What is your claim for this argument? /Your position in the argument i.e. your thesis!
---Why is this subject important/significant or controversial---Over what time period have you done the research e.g. I have conducted this research over a three-day period from September 10 through September 15.
---What 2-3 important sources you have found-name them—and why you think they are your best sources for the essay. It would be best to give an example of a source that supports your claim and one that supports the opposing view.
This annotated bibliography is the research support work for the argument research project on the controversial topic of women in the military services in the United States being involved in combat. The question this research paper hopes to answer is: Should women in the military services be involved in combat duty? In this paper I contend that women in military services should absolutely be involved in combat duty. Though this issue may have has been placed on the back burner, it is still an important issue since women’s issues of “equal pay for equal work” is ongoing, and with the recent Me-Too Movement and issues of sexual harassment in the workplace, this issue becomes even more relevant. I have done an extensive search over the last four days from October 7 through October 10, searching the ProQuest and JSTOR databases and various Internet search engines for relevant reliable sources to support my claim and provide some information of the counterclaims that are available. Two of the credible sources that I believe will support this argumentative research are “Women in the U.S. Military: Growing Share, Distinctive Profile” by Eileen Patten and Kim Parker (2007), a Pew Project article, and “Women Don’t Belong in Combat Units” by Heather Mc Donald (2016), a short-biased piece supporting the opposing view.

Modern War Institute at Comment by Carol Johnson: MLA Citation of the first source in alphabetical order. Notice that only the first line is against the left margin. All other lines are a hanging indent. This is absolutely necessary to confirm to MLA format.

Comment by Carol Johnson: Though this is dummy text- “Lorem Ipsum” it represents the format of your annotation which should be about 250 words. Please ensure that it is a hanging indent just like it is here!
Zenor-Lafond, Holly. “Women in Combat: Why They Serve.”
Inquiry Journal. vol. 16. 2008. Comment by Carol Johnson: 2nd evaluative annotated bibliographic entry citation. Again, note the hanging indent. You will need 3 more sources after the first two for a total of five bibliographic entries. These two are just illustrations of what they should look like. Please not the entries are in alphabetical order!
