The Assignment

Each week, you must write an entry to your electronic journal. There will be journal checks and the professor will ask at times for you to explain what you wrote. The entry should be 100-120 words (about the length of the paragraph above). Keep in mind that this is not a journal of your day to day activities – unless they have direct bearing on you as a writer. In this journal you can address several things:

• Something that you learned or realized about writing or yourself as a writer.

• Some aspect of writing or this class that you are struggling with.

• Something that you learned about writing that you want to share because it would be helpful to others.

• Some situation not related to class in which you had to write something and that piece of writing worked.

• Some situation not related to class where you had to write something and that piece of writing did not work. Your first journal should be about you. Let the reader (me) get to know you a little. Remember that this is an electronic journal and will be checked weekly.
