The Accent Effect (AOL) Ms Shani

The CBC Radio did a recent series about the effect that having an accent could have on the way people perceive you.
Please listen to the following story. It is around 8 minutes long. Feel free to listen a few times if you need to. Please jot down the new or unfamiliar words that you hear.
Please answer the following question in a paragraph in your notebook.
Do you have an accent? Do you think having an accent would hold yourself (or someone else) back in a social and work setting?
After you have written your paragraph view the following presentation about organizing your writing and apply the ideas to the paragraph you have just written.

In today' discussion:
Part 1) How hard was it to listen to a word and be able to figure out the spelling of the word for your notes? Which words were challenging for you to understand in the radio segment? What do they mean? Is it easier to listen to the context to understand the meaning?
(The following link is an audio of what one student experienced.)
Part 2) How did you clean up your paragraph after viewing the presentation? Do you find grammar/writing presentations easy or practical to understand?

Part 1:
Yes, listen to the word you ever hear before is really not easy to understand the mean. In the radio, I heard the word that is "generation", I never heard this word before. This word means "the act of producing offspring or multiplying by such production". When I first listen to this word, I don't understand. But later, I heard he said, he is a Chinese people form Guangzhang. So, I guess this word maybe it means some traditional thing.
Part 2:
I think that my paragraph needs to have a clear topic and have some introduction. And need to have a thesis statement to make the main idea clear to your reader. For each paragraph need to have the main idea. They need to have a conclusion, to summarize all the things. And I find grammar is easy to understand, If your grammar is good that will make you the reader to easily understand,
