Profoundly, economy, environment, and social equity are the three pillars of sustainability that a community requires meeting their necessities while guaranteeing ample resources are obtainable for forthcoming generations (Hansmann, Mieg, & Frischknecht, 2012). In order to achieve this, all citizens should be integrated into a long-standing preparation process to safeguard the environment, expansion of trade and industrial opportunities as well as meeting social basics. The three pillars; ecology, economy, and equity, are also mainly important when it comes to structuring a healthy and prosperous community that will last a lifetime. Ecosystem or Environment is the outline of the connection between living things and their surroundings. Economy involves the administration and utilization of capitals to gratify community as well as domestic needs. Lastly, social equity deal with making sure every individual in the society is treated with fairness and dignity regardless of disability, sexual orientation, language, age, sex, income, or race, and share its well-being. All the three components are particularly necessary because they provide structure for libraries and their societies to discover as well as project what they decide on today impact their tomorrow and their future generation (Hansmann, Mieg, & Frischknecht, 2012).

More so, creating, maintaining, and improving sustainability within local, states, and nation areas is also a part of a healthy and a progressing community (Gibson, 2006). Creating sustainability in both the society and specifically in public work is essential as it offers a stable approach in project pattern as well as enactment by exploiting the available mineral deposits resourcefully to meet the financial, ecology, and social necessities of the society. Maintaining sustainability is yet another phase of the whole procedure that is as much essential; it involves managing and preserving natural resources that the community needs for tomorrow as well as future generation. By doing so, it guarantees the availability of raw materials, a healthy environment, and fair distribution of resources within local, state, and national regions. Also, maintaining sustainability involves saving and prevention of wasting resources, such as water, electricity, and trees for a better survival. Subsequently, there is improving durability so as to make sure the supply chain of resources is constant (Gibson, 2006). Promoting longevity is also an approach to ensuring the community has the adequate and continuous provision of basic needs within the three pillars of sustainability, i.e., economy, equity, as well as ecology.

As a national transportation company, our services have fallen vulnerable into contributing to the high levels of emission. Even though we are not the only sector that primarily causes it, we took full responsibilities for our actions and did our utmost to formulate an applicable solution. Apparently, the majority of our vehicles uses burning fossil gasoline, for instance, diesel and fuel that emits carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, into the air. After the carbon dioxide is released in the atmosphere, it accumulates and mixes with other gases like hydrofluorocarbons, nitrous oxide, and methane, thus making the earth’s atmosphere to warm, which sequentially deviate the global climate. According to statistics, nearly 30% of the emission is contributed by the transportation sector, hence making it the second top cause of greenhouse gas emission (McJeon, Edmonds, Bauer, Clarke, Fisher, Flannery, & Riahi, 2014). Greenhouse gas emission, which results in climate change is a problem centered on the environment pillar of sustainability that as well impact the community as a whole. At this point, it has just dawned on me how many companies do not give much concern to social issues because of the supposed equivalent complementary dimension of the three pillars, which include generating high revenue to the government. Even so, after realizing how climate change can affect all the three components of sustainability simultaneously, our company has decided to enact the possible strategies for dealing with the issues at hand.

First, we will begin by joining the Renewable Fuel Standard program whose mission is to decrease the rate of omission in the atmosphere by encouraging transportation companies like us to embrace the use of renewable fuels. Second, we will utilize the right grade of gasoline to save the extra money and preserve the environment, hence contributing to maintaining as well as improving sustainability. Third includes installing low-rolling-resistance tires on our cars, which will add to a reduction in gas consumption. As advised by our experts, these tires waste less energy in the form of omission, thus saving up to 100 gallons of gas and reducing the greenhouse fume release into the atmosphere (McJeon, Edmonds, Bauer, Clarke, Fisher, Flannery, & Riahi, 2014). Furthermore, I will implement the rule of carrying light cargo to supervisors and drivers; this is because it takes less gas to move a light vehicle compared to a heavy one. There is also the reduction of dehumidifier use since it utilizes a lot of gasoline, resulting in high levels of emission. Lastly, there is the implementation of a customized standard driving speed that will keep drivers from over speeding, which involves high consumption of gas than an increase in greenhouse gas release.

In conclusion, according to the above case study, the three pillars of sustainability; ecology, economy, and social equity, are correlated in the sense that one cannot be impacted without affecting the others.
