The Soulful Life is a virtual holistic service provider catering to individuals' spiritual, mental, physical, and behavioral wellness care. At this wellness, clients' free virtual classes are administrating the collaboration of yoga and meditation. The class breathes, stretch, and meditate exercises occur every Saturday between 10:00 am-11:00 am. The class I attended can help support preventative care and wellness by teaching individuals how to connect with their mind and body functionality. Throughout the class, the instructors advocate the importance of prevention care. Individuals gain insight into how to control negative behaviors, patterns, and feelings placing their wellness at risk. Participants gain self-insight and can recognize the role they play in challenging situations. In addition, develop a realistic plan to implement change in maintaining their overall health and wellness.
This class taught me a variety of holistic steps and tools I can use to overcome difficult situations. Part of growing from life experiences requires me to create a space for healing and growth (safe space). To start this process, I can face past and present conflict and work through the overwhelming thoughts, feelings, and emotions by practicing breathing techniques, stretching strategies, and mindful meditation. According to the Soulful Living Wellness Center, holistic psychotherapy is preventive medicine. “Generally speaking, traditional psychotherapy focuses on problematic thoughts and behavior, interprets the underlining meaning of these thoughts and behavior, and then provides solutions that are practiced by clients and adjusted as circumstances warrant. Unlike traditional psychotherapy, Holistic Psychotherapy optimally fosters growth and healing by noting the synergistic relationship between all the ways we experience ourselves and the world—thinking, feeling, doing, and sensing.” (Services, n.d.) Therefore, yoga and meditation could be practiced as an intervention technique to teach clients relaxation skills to manage their physical health, reinforce positively the client's perspective on their role in challenges, and explore avenues of building self-confidence by encouraging clients how to face fear responses.
The experience at the Soulful Living Wellness Center was Great. The online atmosphere of candles, soothing music, and low lights set the tone of a calm and relaxing environment. I felt myself connecting with the directive provided by the instructors. I felt less tension and more relaxation after the class. I selected this class because yoga and meditation cater to all dimensions of human functionality. It is important to work on all aspects of the mind and body (wellness). I also learned what is meditation. And what is yoga? Meditation develops balance in a peaceful state and aligns with the mind, body, and soul. Through breathing techniques, I learned how to stay present and become more mindful of how I talk, feel, and act. I also gained a better understanding of stillness. Yoga builds concertation and flexibility and controls the nerves/ tension throughout the body. I loved how the yoga experience helped me build strength and tone. This exercise provided the skills to regulate my sleeping patterns and enhanced my energy levels. I selected this class because I retrieved holistic care for two entities in one session. This exercise session is a best practice to demonstrate to clients how interventions like holistic care can be a lifestyle change, not a task.
Furthermore, I would encourage a client to participate in this holistic approach and other approaches because clients should be aware of the different types of wellness care available. Through holistic care, clients can identify ways to reduce symptoms of mental health issues, align with themselves (self-reflection and self-confidence), and strengthen or build the

appropriate skills to express themselves positively. If clients’ are unsure of the adequate steps and skills needed to start this process, the holistic care approach can teach this. Holistic approaches show clients that their emotions, thoughts, and feelings matter. Clients gain a better perspective on their values, beliefs, and practices. As a result, holistic approaches like yoga and meditation accept the client for who they are and support improving communication, emotional, cognitive, and technical skills to cultivate individual life choices and experiences.
