Dear Emily,
Thank you for allowing me to interview you about your job and the writing that you do for your job at Qualcomm. Your flexibility and understanding during the scheduling process were much appreciated. While the interview was for a class, I got much more out of it than just a good grade. Your explanation of the role that communication plays in your workplace has aided me in my estimation of how much writing I will need to be doing in my future employment.
You have always played an influential role in my personal life, and I hope that you will consider now becoming a mentor for my professional life as well. Because you have experience in the field that I hope to one day be employed in, would it be ok for me to ask you questions periodically? Maybe we could schedule a time every month or two where we could meet and discuss my professional goals. Please let me know if this might work for you.
Thank you again for helping me to better understand the role that business writing and communication play in the workplace. I look forward to talking to you soon.
Best,
