Environmental Politics

Take home Final

Spring 2019

Instructions: Write a three-four page (double spaced, size 10 or 12 font, 1” margin, and typed) paper that answers the questions below (no less than three pages). The final is worth up to 100 points.

The writing style should follow the Political Science method, or a writing style in your major (include citations in the text and a bibliography/reference page). Please put your name on your exam, include a cover sheet (does not count as one of the three pages required), and number the pages. You may use any resources necessary to answer the questions ,but need to document all sources according to the Political Science style.

The Final Paper is due on Monday, June 10th at 10:00 a.m. No final papers will be accepted after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday the 12th. All late submissions will be reduced by 5% for the first day, and 10% per day after the 10th.

Assignment:

Discuss the ability of the United States to respond to one case/issue area , (waste, air pollution, water pollution, natural resources, energy, or biodiversity).

In your answer, include at least one project presented by:

Your classmates (how t shirts manufacturing affect the environment?),

Your project, (how deforestation for palm oil effect orangutans? and how it is relating to climate change?)

And at least one assigned course reading (you should not use resources outside of what is assigned for the class for the readings). >>>>> See the attached document named (reading 1)

In addition, you must discuss the appropriate level of response (national, state, local, grassroots, etc.) and type and level of response (legislative, executive, judicial, grassroots awareness, incentives/coercion, etc.).

Consider the following questions of the course when writing your discussion:

a. What drives success and failure in addressing environmental politics issues? Why?

b. What influences human behavior toward the environment/nature? Why?

c. What and/or who can bring change to improve the environment? Why?
