Term Project Guidelines

Project - During the fifth week (Module 5) of the course, you will be assigned a term project (2-3 students per team selected randomly). Your instructor will assign you the

problem and team membership. Each team will work out the solution for the given

problem using a spreadsheet. Each team will submit a written report and will also prepare

a PowerPoint presentation.

Team - Contact your team members as early as possible. It is recommended that one of the team members act as a team leader to coordinate the activities. The team leader

will inform the instructor if any member of the team is not contributing in a timely

manner.

You can use the Doc Sharing area to share files with your team members, use your email,

and /or use the chat tool to communicate with each other. It is the responsibility of each

and every member to contribute to the project and to respond in a timely manner to your

team members. Please let the instructor know if any members in your team do not

respond or participate. This project will give you a valuable experience in using

techniques you have learned in the course to solve business related problems using

computer software, working with groups, and using web tools to interact with each other.

I hope you will enjoy this experience.

Report – You are required to submit a written report about the project. This report should include the following items.

 Problem statement.

 Solution (model formulation and computer solution using Excel)

 Evaluation or answers to the questions (if any) in the topic.

Presentation – You are required to prepare a PowerPoint presentation that lasts about 5-10 minutes (10-15 slides). The purpose of the presentation is to explain the problem,

solution, and evaluation of your project to your colleagues or senior management.

Deliverables – due at the end of Module 8:

1. Electronic copy of the report – Word file 2. Electronic copy of the Excel file showing solution to the problem. 3. Electronic copy of the PowerPoint file.
