Term Project: Part A

A) Scenario:

Your store is preparing a “Fortnight Festival” (a two-week promotion) honoring three of the

world’s great designers. This promotion will run throughout the store covering all departments.

Create a name and establish the aesthetics of your retail store and target market. You are NOT to use

an existing store. The promotion is to take place inside your store.

Store Aesthetics & Target Market

 Explain the aesthetics of the new retail store created and its target market.

o On merchandise in reference to target market, one is not to use the original designer products, Haute Couture or Made to Measure. Additionally, any designer high priced prestige or luxury market items are not to be used.

o The purpose of using inspired designs and not high end price ones is to learn to recognize

designer signature characteristics in lower price categories from low to moderate.

 Explain why each inspirational designer was a great and how their aesthetic translated to the current store. (For both apparel and accessories, you will be creating a department for each of the designers.

o In each department you will describe, with a written report including images of the designer, why they are considered a “great.” (What are the characteristics of this designer’s aesthetic that translates to your store today?)
