Title: Application of computer forensics in solving employee internet abuse.
Thesis statement: This paper aims to examine how computer forensics can be used to solve the issue of employee internet abuse in organizations.
Outline
I. Introduction
· Internet abuse by employees in the workplace has become a major problem in many organizations causing adverse effects to the organization (Krishna et al, 2018).
· Computer forensics can be used to examine, determine, and produce evidence of employee internet abuse (Kranacher & Riley, 2019).
II. Employee internet abuse
· Definition- This is the use of internet services by employees for the wrong purposes, for example, sending confidential information to unauthorized people (Krishna et al, 2018).
· Effects- This can lead to significant losses for the organization due to data loss and increased risks for the company (Krishna et al, 2018).
III. Computer forensics
· These are forensic investigations that recover data from technological devices such as computers to find evidence of misconduct and solve a crime (Joseph & Norman, 2019).
· Various computer forensic tools such as cyfin are available for use in computer crime investigations (Joseph & Norman, 2019).
IV. Using computer forensics to solve employee internet abuse
· During an employee internet abuse scenario, computer forensics can be used to examine and recover evidence of internet abuse (Kranacher & Riley, 2019).
· Through the forensic acquisition of data, computer forensics allows for the identification of any non-work-related activities thus facilitating legal proceedings (Kranacher & Riley, 2019).
· Computer forensics can also be used to investigate misuse of data or company data theft.
V. Conclusion
· Increased adoption of the internet in corporate organizations has created various issues such as employee internet abuse.
· Through computer forensics, this problem can be solved thus preventing the adverse effects that it causes to an organization.
