Guidance:

1. Start putting together the material already developed in HW 2-5.

2. The proposal should have a minimum of 1500 words. Include the word count at the end of the report.

3. Your proposal should be written in APA style, incorporating appropriate references in the body of the text, integrating your literature review at relevant places in a thematic rather than the chronological manner, raising your research questions, specifying the objectives of your study, and detailing the whole procedure that you propose to go through in undertaking your research journey clearly and succinctly.

4. The report should be written in the future tense and third person. Do not use the words “I”, “you”, or “we.” The first line of every paragraph should have a 0.5” indentation.

5. Follow the outline below with section numbers and titles in completing this assignment.

1. Introduction

Background or introduction section describes the basic facts and importance of the research area - What is your research area, the motivation of the research, and how important is it for the industry practice/knowledge advancement? It should focus on what a reader expects from your report.

2. Problem statement

A problem statement identifies the root cause (why) for conducting the study and is stated very briefly. The problem statement provides a clear and concise description of the issues that must be addressed.

3. Nature and Significance of the Problem

State the importance of the problem here and explain how the study will be helpful.

4. Objectives of the Study

Objectives provide a list of goals that will be achieved through the proposed research – What benefits/impact (e.g., better understanding, improved productivity …) will be generated if the research problem is answered?

5. Study Questions/Hypotheses

You will often use “Study Questions” as your heading. Hypotheses are essential when working on an experimental study, whereas research questions provide the data the researcher should collect, analyze, and interpret. It is a common practice to have at least 2-3 questions based on the problem of your study. Avoid writing yes/no type of questions. These questions are answered when you execute the study.

6. Definition of Terms

State precisely what the terms in the problem and the study mean.

7. Preliminary Literature Review

Provide a summary of previous related research on the research problem and their strength and weakness and a justification of your research - What is known/what has been done by others? And why is your research still necessary? Include

8. Methodology

Research methodology defines the research methods and logic steps - What to do and how to solve the problem and achieve proposed objectives? Which research methods (e.g., survey, modeling, case study …) will be used? Attach a project schedule table if necessary. Include:

· Tools and Techniques
