Term Assignment Three: Equipment Purchase Proposal

Assignment Due Date: Week Twelve (submitted by 11:59 pm of the

schedule class)

Grade: 20%

Learning Objective

The student(s) will research, prepare a purchase proposal using the provided template.

The proposal will be intended for the procurement of a combi oven as stipulated in the

equipment proposal template. The purchase of the oven is a formal proposal to be

submitted to the management team prior to approval and allocation of funds. Through

research and independent study, the student(s) will gain a better understanding of the

foodservice industry procurement process and the necessary decision making required for

costly acquisitions. The student by researching, preparing a purchase proposal will gain

the necessary skills used in the foodservice industry. In addition, the student(s) will gain

necessary managerial skills and the ability to facilitate fiscal decision making in the

foodservice environment.

Guidelines for Purchase Proposal

1. The proposal must be created using the template provided in eCentennial course shell.

2. The content conveyed in the proposal must be relevant and address the management teams needs and target audience.

3. The piece of equipment is the convection oven as cited in the proposal template. Please refer to the example of the assignment.

4. Each section of the conclusion (three parts) must be completed in full detail. Please refer to the example of the assignment.

5. The proposal is to be submitted electronically using word processing software

Due Date of Assignment:

1. The proposal is due Week Twelve. The assignment will be submitted the day of the scheduled class on Week Twelve by 11:59 pm.

2. The proposal or portion of it may be submitted in advance for review and feedback by the instructor without penalty or grade consideration.

3. The proposal will be submitted to eCentennial in the assessment tab. Submitted to the folder Term Assignment Two – Equipment Purchase Proposal

4. The printed full names (first and last) of the students and their student ID# must be on the assignment to receive a grade.

Note: Late submissions will be subject to school grading and evaluation policy. Late

submissions will be penalized 10% per work week. Failure by the student to abide by

Academic Integrity and Honest Policies will result in a zero grade.

The purchase proposal summary with have the following components:

1. Conclusion – overview of the benefits of equipment acquisition to include savings in operational costs – provide an overview of the savings to the

operation in acquiring the new equipment with any relevant benefits:

a. Labour Cost Savings b. Food Cost Savings c. Energy Conservation d. Equipment Expenditures e. Safety and Maintenance Cost Savings f. Food Safety, Sanitation and Workplace Safety Features a. Equipment Operating Manual from Supplier

2. Customer Satisfaction provide details of how the equipment will enhance the customer experience, and quality of finished product

3. Recommendations – based on the mission and vision statement of the operation and provided win/win scenario or strategy for employee and organization. Provide

final remarks and request for the acquisition and approval from management

team.
