Technology Systems Recommendations in Healthcare Information Management

Technology systems are vital components in healthcare information management. Choosing the best technology system is also important. In the context of Featherfall medical Centre, the current technology is not efficient and there is need to recommend new technology system. In this scenario, Admission, Discharge and Transfer (ADT) system can work best for this medical Centre.

Featherfall medical center is experiencing issues of efficiency, ethical problems and governing regulation with regard to their current technology. Considering the current state at Featherfall medical center, the existing technological system gap has to be filled by establishment of the Admission, Discharge and Transfer (ADT) system. This system meets the need of the medical facility by ensuring that patients data is shared across all the departments of the facility on real time bases (Brown, 2017).  Since the system employs the use of the latest health information technology, efficiency and compliance will be met by the new technology. Ethical issues resulting from outdated systems will also be addressed.

Regulations and Law Abiding in The Recommended Technology System.

The most important component in ADT systems is that is Health Insurance Portability and Accountability compliant. Its frequent updates ensure up to date validity and improvement of the system making it more sophisticated to internal external threats. The system also ensures security of patients’ information and data by use of user profiles where each medical staff has limited access the authorized data only. ADT systems are legal in United States healthcare system thus acquiring the right licenses and compliance will be easily achieved.

Staff Needs

ADT systems are user friendly and require simple training to use them. The real time dissemination of patient information and transfer of data from one department to another making ease access (Wager, Lee, & Glaser, 2017). This will meet staff needs by communicating and passing patients information across the healthcare facility departments alerting the staff in case they were not aware of some of the patient’s information whether admission, discharge or transfer. Relaying of patients’ information across departments will also help in tracing patients and the treatments they have been given. Improvement of service delivery and treatment efficiency will be facilitated as it is the need of the medical staff at this healthcare facility.

Financial Investment in The Technology System

Investing in the ADT system will be a great advantage of Featherfall medical center. The ADT system has a high level of accuracy that minimizes operational costs by minimizing errors and eradicating unwanted staff duties. The system can perform duties that could have been performed by employing several staff. Efficient operations minimize the amount of operational capital and its implementation means more financial regulations.

Ethical Management of Health Information

In Featherfall Medical Centre, ADT system encompasses the concept of ad hoc report and user profile password. It’s an ethical requirement to protect health information (Chrimes, Kuo, Moa, & Hu, 2017). This concept ensured security of patients’ information and prevent access of unauthorized data and information. All the stakeholders are limited to their user profiles and the profiled data. In this regard, the system ensured ethical management of the information.

Monitoring The Use of the Technology System

Featherfall Medical Centre can employ the application of surveillance by public health officers. Public officers can conduct survey on the use of the system to get information on the use of the system. Another aspect in monitoring of the system can be connecting monitoring devices that record the system usage. These two methods can work efficiently in monitoring ADT systems at Featherfall healthcare facility.

ADT System require minimal time for its establishment. A span of about four months can be long enough to implement this technology due to its user friendly features. The system is also works very fast and little time is used to process medical information. It therefore important to note that this technology system is time efficient.

Conclusion

In summations, Featherfall Medical Center need a technology that is suitable to address the existing challenges. ADT can be a reasonable recommendation as it is efficient considering, the needs, ethical issues, financial investment, monitoring and time investments. Law and regulation is also a concern for this system thus its recommendable for its establishment.
