Team Leadership
I researched articles about team leadership, and these were the actual facts that I found as I read them thoroughly. In the first article, Frank LaFasto and Carl Larson (2016) wrote a pretty good article concerning team leadership. They believe that being a competent team leader meant that one understands the nature of leadership as it applies to leading teams. They believe that leadership is the main priority to consider when a team fails or succeeds. They wrote that leadership functions are exercised by the leaders put in charge together with the members or sometimes both of them. This leadership model is known as a team leadership capacity (LaFasto F., & Larson C., 2016).
The next article talks about the current ways of leading teams. The authors believe that many writings on leadership currently focus mostly on both capabilities and behaviors that the formal leaders that work for large institutions require in order to work effectively (Centerod.com, 2015). People tend to believe the fact that a great leaders need to be transparent, authentic, optimistic and with a vision; and the authors think that it is correct. Leaders need something done for them in order to bring results and solve business problems; and for that, the author thinks they need formal authority over their teams, have diverse individuals and the best technology possible.
Moreover, the third article on team leadership typically talks about the ubiquity of leadership and its impact on the team performance in an organization. The authors believe that it is difficult to understand the dynamics of what leaders normally do to competently handle their teams. Therefore, they focused on functional leadership. They believe that the main idea of being a leader is so that one could do or get done any function that is not being properly handled in terms of group needs. The authors believe that the primary aspect that an excellent leader should have is influence and also the ability to reciprocate it with the processes they tackle (Zacarro, S. J., Rittman, A. L., & Marks, M. A., 2002).
The last article speaks about the skills that are required by team leaders in order to depict their robust leadership. The author differentiates a leader with a manager, stating that a leader is slightly above the manager, and this gives them the chance to work effectively. Therefore, communication was the first skill; it states that a good leader should master the art of commination so that they are capable of giving clear instructions. Also, a good leader should be approachable and available (Pareto.co.uk, 2017). They should also show consistency in their daily work and success as well as show good organization of they work and property. They should be able to delegate, inspire and share knowledge.
