This is good work, team. I do have two suggestions. Experience for the team members. If these people are to be experts they should have experience. I also think this can benefit with the hourly salary. Overall, great work. |

Introduction
At the outset, undertaking a new project can appear to be a daunting task. Managing a project requires more than single party attempting to keep track of the many moving parts associated with transitioning from the starting point to the end goal. There are numerous circumstances and events to consider that can delay or derail a project entirely. Budget issues, scheduling conflicts, inclement weather and delivery delays are just a few of the most frequently occurring threats to timely and successful project completion. To that end, it has become common practice to construct a project team. These teams are comprised of key personnel dedicated to the successful completion of individual tasks or sections in service of the overall goal. Required positions may vary based on the specifics of the intended project (Wallace, n.d., para. 2). Personnel assigned to a project must have the requisite knowledge and abilities to achieve satisfactory completion in their specified area with sufficient flexibility and creativity to adapt and solve problems as the inevitably arise. The importance of leadership roles cannot be overstated in a project management team. Managers will take on the responsibilities of mitigating risks, keeping the project on schedule and facilitating the actions of the staff executing the project. Primary positions in management are often dependent on what task has been undertaken by the project team (Wallace, n.d., para. 15). Similarly, front-line resources will vary in expertise as required by the work needed for the project’s completion. The associated work may require range from general to skilled labor and can potentially call for certifications and licenses.
Human Resource Requirements
As pertains to the intended kitchen remodel project, a specific list of resources has been identified. The position descriptions and responsibilities provided in the following table convey KRS Group’s observations regarding the ideal skills necessary to complete the renovation in an organized and efficient manner. Management positions for this project include a project manager, assistant project manager, budget manager and project sponsor. Each of these parties play a crucial role in overseeing the successful initiation of numerous stages in the project. The project sponsor will participate in upper level project concerns such as the restricting of a contract of to step in where the project manager is unavailable. The project manager will take the lead in monitoring the overall renovation and assure adherence to the schedule through communication with leaders in purchasing, demolition and installation. The assistant project manager will coordinate with leaders to keep the project phases fluid, while reporting activities and issues to the project manager. The budget manager will monitor spending on the project and facilitate approved purchases and vendor payments, while keeping the project manager informed of issues and expenses arising outside the norm.
Vendors, contractors and subcontractors are an essential part of this project and comprise the front-line labor force. For this remodel, the contractors necessary for work intended have been identified as a(n) plumber, electrician as well as two (2) painters and four (4) carpenters. The plumber will be fully licensed and certified in the state of operation and complete an inspection of the existing waterlines supplying both the faucet and refrigerator. The plumber will install and extension to the water line, changing its location by six (6) feet. The plumber will install the new sink basin and fixtures into the renovation countertop. The electrician will possess all necessary state licenses and certifications and inspect the existing wiring at the locations outlets to ensure viability for the new appliances. Upon completion of the cabinetry install, the electrician will serve to install the garbage disposal unit and dishwasher.
The painting team will consist of two (2) members. These painters will prepare the walls for application post-demolition. This activity may include wall repair via putty and sanding. Painters will section off and paint the designated 10x15 ft. kitchen area prior to the install of any new cabinetry. The carpentry team will be comprised of four (4) members. This team will take primary responsibility for demolition. The carpentry team will remove the appliances as well as existing cabinetry and flooring. Upon completion of work by the plumber and painters, the carpentry team will install the designated materials in the order of flooring, cabinetry, countertops and appliances.
Human Resources Table
Organizational Chart
Summary
In conclusion, the KRS Group has defined an organizational chart and human resource table to accurately depict the communication structure taking place for the duration of the kitchen remodel project. The team selected will be following the agreed-upon standards of the quality management process in order to ensure all deliverables and sub-contracted work are of the desired quality (Wallace, n.d. para 36). The renovation and schedule adherence will be run by the project manager, with vendors, contractors, and sub-contractors providing the front-line labor, and the client having the final say in all major decisions.
