Part 1- Disease teaching tool (care plan): 25 points

You will be assigned two of the above topics. You will need to write a care plan using the following information as a summary of the disease, making sure to include all of the points below and then teach this topic to a classmate. You will use this care plan to teach a classmate and you will be critiqued by your classmate:

5 pts: Pathophysiology of the disease: In your own words, write the pathophysiology of the disorder and relate the clinical manifestations of each back to the pathophysiology based on the information you taught your peer.

5 pts: Clinical manifestations of the disease (at least two assessment findings)

5 pts: Two nursing diagnoses: Discuss 2 nursing diagnoses common to patients and the interventions you chose for each diagnosis.

5 pts: Treatment plan (at least two interventions: intraprofesional and nursing care) and the rationale for interventions.

5 pts: Four patient teaching points for this disease: Include the disease, the treatment plan, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of your teaching.

Part II – Disease Teaching Criteria: 25 Points

You will need to teach this topic to a classmate. Your teaching will be critiqued by your classmate.

Your lesson should last no more than 25 minutes. Your lesson should include:

4 pts: Teach the pathophysiology of the disorder and relate the clinical manifestations of each back to the pathophysiology:

4 pts: Explain the common signs and symptoms they would expect to experience with this disease

4 pts: Discuss the treatment plan they may expect if admitted to the hospital (include at least two interventions: intraprofesional and nursing care)

4 pts: Give them the rationale for the interventions that may be used

4 pts: Include four patient teaching points for this disease: Include the disease, the treatment plan, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of your teaching.
