 Questions:

1. Describe your discipline philosophy?

· Ms. Ingram’s discipline philosophy is viewed as using positive reinforcement and redirection of negative behaviors in her classroom. In the kindergarten classroom her students are expected to treat others with respect. Students are held responsible and accountable for their behavior.

2. Tell me about your classroom management style.

· In Ms.. Ingram classroom she stated she uses a behavioral color code traffic light. The Traffic Light is a system for addressing behavior problems (good or bad). This is a level system in which a child earns privileges at different levels depending on his or her behavior. This system is used to motivate the students to control his or her own behavior in order to earn reward or privileges.

3. Tell me about a student who was not progressing satisfactorily in your class, what steps did you take?

4. How do you build rapport with your class?

· Ms. Ingram build rapport with her students by showing a line of trust. She learns to call her students by his or her name. She creates a open door policy for her students to feel free to chat with them about anything. She stated its important to learn something about your students’ interests, hobbies, and aspirations.

5. How do you give your students recognition and positive reinforcement?

· Ms. Ingram reinforces classroom rules and promotes positive behavior by having a treasure chest. The treasure chest allows children to receive incentives for their good behavior. She also recognize children as student of the week and allow them being Classroom Helper/Assistant.

6. How do you communicate with a parent about student’s performance?

· In communication with parents about student’s performance, Ms. Ingram schedules parent conferences during planning period, or phone contact, or email contact.

7. How have you handled a situation where a student is consistently late to your class? Tell me about a challenging discipline problem you had. How did you manage it?

· In her classroom has to promote classroom management and sustain a positive classroom climate she uses the following tactics:

· Show and tell- It teaches children right from wrong with calm words and actions.

· Set limits- Giving clear and consistent rules to children so they can follow.

· Praise- Identify and show children they are showing great behavior (Praise, Treasure chest).

12. Why is it important teachers understand the importance of discipline so he/she can create learning experiences that make subject matter meaningful to students?

13. Why is it important for the teacher to foster relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support students’ learning and well-being?
