Introduction
Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) is an organization which is based on providing information and technology libraries as a service to its clients. It is my current and future technologies organization. It leads in information and technology expertise (Munro, 1985). It enriches its library services by the use of new technology. Library and Information Technology Association has automated information technology that encourages more research and technical standards development.
This organization is based on a networking and information technology background. IT has many departments in it as to which different courses are offered. Library and Information Technology Association such services among others, cloud computing, distance charging, open source distribution, social media outreach and e-book innovations among others. LITA offers cloud computing services which is provision of shared resources and software over an internet surface to other computers and devices that are on demand.
Distance charging involves automatic wireless charging using charging spots and wired chargers. Social media outreach is communication between Library and Information Technology Association and other outside clients to advertise the services that it offers. E-books are used as guidelines for crucial users of the services within Library and Information Technology Association as user manuals. They also collaborate innovation and solving digital needs.
Organizational objectives Comment by Mayuresh Kelkar: Avoid orphan headings.
In order to set the objectives of Library and Information Technology Association, many factors are involved. Organizational objectives give guidance and directions, motivation of the employees, control of performance and facilitation of planning. Employees are energized by objectives and affecting persistence (Doyle, 1994). A deadline target has to be set for effective accomplishment of the objectives. We also need decision makers in the organization who will be responsible for controlling the achievement of the objectives.
To have a product development objective in Library and Information Technology Association. In order to promote the development of products. The organization should have a written product requirement documentation by collection of marketing intelligence (Doyle, 1994). In order to fasten decision making, computerized designs and manufacturing software should be implemented. Technological cooperation can enable global groups to work on a product concurrently. Information technology in LITA will be used to quicken response to customers’ needs.
To enhance stakeholder integration. Using 24/7 communication and integration global connectivity, communication is quickened between the organization and its clients. Library and Information Technology Association will use investor relations websites for faster communication between it and its stakeholders, market participants, and market research analysts. The company will come up with headquarters to work on interconnectivity with the customers and clients for customer care service calls.
To ensure there is process improvement. ERP (Enterprise resource planning) system enables the administration to run errands by having sales reviews, costs and operation metrics. They are run and operated in a real time integrated software. An enterprise resource planning system will replace finance, human resources and other different legacy systems. This is more effective on cost and efficient for the managers in Library and Information Technology Association.
To improve cost efficiency. Implementation of information technology resources results to long term savings, transaction reductions and cost implementations. These savings in LITA will be worth the investment that is incurred. To lead into competitive advantage. In order for LITA to gain a competitive advantage over other companies, it has to achieve it through rapid product development, process improvements and cost savings. To increase market cost rapidly and effectively, an organization has to use prototypes, IT systems and simulators.
Organizational effectiveness
Organizational effectiveness criteria how effective and successful and successful an organization can be in achieving its goals and meeting the objectives that have been laid down (Dikmen, 2005). Library and Information Technology Association can adapt criteria to achieve organizational effectiveness as follows. First is to determine the criteria to use in obtaining the effectiveness. LITA should set standards to use as a motivation perspective level. Setting standards determines the effectiveness of an organization in meeting its objectives. THE organization should select indicators as a criteria method to determine the outcome. The indicators selected could be launched on the processes and outcomes.
Processes is another criteria measure thus add more effort rather than effect assessment. It is a measure of work quality and quantity. Another criteria measure in LITA would be structure indicators which have the capability of assessing the organization to achieve effective performance. Features of the organization are also inclusive here such as equipment age, equipment type and participant characteristics (Igbaria, 1990). A person’s characteristics are based on licensing and the degree that he/he attained. Licensing systems and accreditation reviews are usually based on the structural indicators.
Participants, constituents and measures could be another factor. Organizational managers lay a great emphasis on the structural features because they have more control as compared to different groups which could instead prefer having different measures (Kiziltas, 2005). Workers in LITA could ask for more emphasis on process measurements. Customers and clients of the organization could have a different preference by choosing the output measures. These include expectations, sensitivity, meets, courtesy, needs and promptness.
Departmental effectiveness
In order to achieve departmental effectiveness in Library and Information Technology Association, the organizational criteria used should be effective even at the departmental level. Organizational criteria could be effective in promoting teamwork among the whole LITA personnel structure (Fiedler, 1964). Harmony would be created among the employees and the management board of the organization. Organizational structure will be achieved as well.
To achieve departmental effectiveness, Engaging LITA’s staff directly and indirectly could be effective at the departmental level. Employee engagement leads to more productive, more effective and longer-termed working employees thus reducing cost on employee hire. It increases efficiency of the staff since they work above their expectations and knowledge. THE management should in turn be more listening to the and faster response and feedback to their needs, constraints and complains.
Criteria would lead to culture alignment and strategy. Employees should be actively engaged to achieve organizational goals alignment (Igbaria, 1990). Staff should be focused the strategy of the organization and working effectively to fir within the objectives laid. This would create an open culture and break barriers. Staff should be given a chance to share their thoughts and get quick feedback as well. This creates a continuous improvement culture and effective operation with your employees.
Creation of leaders to lead teams within Library and Information Technology Association. Empower the leaders as managers so as to collaborate with the working employees, coming up with new innovations and solve problems and issues that could be driving the organization back. Work is divided since different mangers have a different field of his specialization in knowledge. The roles of the supervisor is ensuring that his department has the best performance and assist his subordinates to perform effectively.
Having a control over resources would be another benefit at departmental level. Scarce resources should be used effectively and wastage elimination should be considered. This is only possible when the organizational structure is well and clearly defined. Employees are well controlled since there is an effective organizational structure.
Technology inventory
This is an inventory of the technology being used in Library and Information Technology Association. The technologies responsible for the operation and success of the organization are using online browsing and use of electronic transactions, communicate with customers, with each other and organizational customers and preparation and document transmission. Service delivery to customers should be improved (Rivard, 2005). This is by providing online services and implementation of e-commerce facilities.
The organizational structure is a system that is made up of implicit and explicit policies and rules to outline how responsibilities and roles are controlled and collaborated. It determines the flow of information within the company from one level to another. In this structure IT department resides in the organizational structure, the information technology department is responsible for development, maintenance and management of hardware, software and systems in an organization. Their roles include administration of emails in LITA, ERP planning, data backup, business intelligence, network setup, and documental storage.
The personnel in charge of the IT department is the CIO (Chief Information Officer) and the CTO (Chief Technology Officer). IT department consists of application development which has business analyst, applications developer, system analyst and the systems engineer. Application management department consists of application developer, IT application analyst and Quality Assurance engineer. Business intelligence consists of a Business intelligence develop, a data analyst and a Data warehouse manager. It management administration consists of Enterprise architect, business analyst, IT manager, system analyst and a project manager.
IT procurement consists of a procurement officer, purchasing agent and procurement specialist. IT security department consists of Cyber security analyst, Information security engineer and Information security analyst. Network administration group manages the organization’s networks and data centers. They include network engineer, systems administrator and a network administrator. System analysis and architecture includes a systems analyst, business analyst and a systems engineer.
IT assessment
IT assessment is a thorough and comprehensive review of an organization’s technology systems and its environments. It leads to an evaluation that is written and recommendation (Munro, 1985). Data storage in LITA is obtained through accessibility, permissions, availability and performance. LITA has a server infrastructure that involves virtualization, and established network infrastructure that supports warranty, supports performance and operating systems. Cloud services have been implemented such as cloud computing, service delivery, compliance and accessibility. LITA has a strategic network security. It enhances antiviruses, anti-spam, filtering, firewalls and physical security. An IT assessment of LITA helps address rapid expansion and growth, Integration of post-merger, cost reduction and globalization.
Risk matrix/assessment
A risk matrix and assessment involves identification of risks in the organization and risk analysis. It gives an overall process or method of risk and hazard identification and the major factors that usually cause harm in an organization and its environment. A risk assessment template is a risk rating matrix that is used for analysis which focuses on two aspects (Feringa, 2002). The typical risk assessments are severity, whether it is insignificant, minor, moderate critical or catastrophic. Likelihood of risk occurrence is unlikely, seldom, occasional, likely or definite.
The likelihood of risks occurring in LITA are low. These consequences are unlikely to occur and minor. A risk assessment helps the management come up with a roadmap of remediation and alignment of objectives with the goals. Areas to assess are IT governance, IT organization, security and continuity, application and portfolio, and network infrastructure. Network infrastructure \has been equipped with firewalls on servers and databases.
Emerging technology assessment
Mobile devices in LITA are used for management. Google mobile management can be used to manage, monitor and secure mobile devices in the organization. Staff can use personal deices for work. You can manage devices using mobile phones. They can use to manage the users, compliance monitoring, management survey, update security policies, typical flow of communication from manager to staff and employment seekers and the human resource department (Benbasat, 2000). Social media involves technologies such as blogs, networking sites social tagging tools and wikis among others.
Use of e-mails, intranets and teleconferencing are implemented in LITA. Social media is necessary when it comes to marketing. It increases marketing products and services even through advertisements. Relationship building between the customers and the organization will be enhanced (Venkatesh, 1995). Customers can comment in the blogs as a way of feedback to the organization as a result of LITA’s their products and services. Social media is a thermometer of knowing how the clients and customers think about your services and products.
Cloud computing is based on how technology impacts on business and organizational impacts. Cloud computing would lead to flexible costs, improved mobility, improved collaboration, cost effectiveness am reduction on the expenses in LITA. Use of data analytics (big data) has four dimensions. Structured data management, unstructured data management, visualization and analytics environment. It leads to an integration of big data into a platform, building skills in the organization and re-thinking analytics of the business.
Digital tools (3D printing, wearable, internet of thing will bring fundamental changes in the organization. It leads to organizational change. Virtual and augmented reality is whereby there is a simulation of a computer generated environment into a three dimensional image. Artificial intelligence is the development of computer theory systems that can perform roles on a normal circumstance. They require the intelligence of a human being, visual perception, language translation and speech recognition. Machine learning gives an ability to computers to wok and learn new concepts from its user without being programmed.
I can recommend using social media in LITA. Since it will improve business processes, lower maintenance costs, be a solution to the complaints of the employees among others. Social media is necessary when it comes to marketing. It increases marketing products and services even through advertisements. Real time updates are associated with social media. Relationship building between the customers and the organization will be enhanced. Comment by Mayuresh Kelkar: Need more specifics. Comment by Mayuresh Kelkar: Formatting.
Customers can comment in the blogs as a way of feedback to the organization as a result of LITA’s their products and services. Social media will improve interoperability of systems, standardize interfaces and help in knowing how the clients and customers think about your services and products. I can also encourage the use of mobile devices. Staff can use personal deices for work.
You can manage devices using mobile phones. They can use to manage the users, compliance monitoring, management survey, update security policies, typical flow of communication from manager to staff and employment seekers and the human resource department. It will also be readily accepted by the employees and will embrace the mobile devices aspect readily. The communication standards will be defined and upgraded.
Technology aAudit report
My technological audit is a brief report is based on the gaps and opportunities presented by current and future technologies (LITA). The common general information technology controls that I use in LITA are control of logical access over data, infrastructure and applications, program management controls, security and data center controls, data backup and recovery and computer operation controls. The key aim in my business is changing management in my organization, planning, physical security, problem and project management and technical support.
The main objectives in LITA will be effectively managing IT projects, identification of the root causes to problems in the organization, and get implementation procedures to improve them. Disaster management, recovery and backup procedures will be implemented and control of physical security of IT assets. I have identified the conditions that are threats to LITA organization, the criteria and the cause to the problems and new implementation methods will be adopted to curb them. New technological assets will be implemented to determine the effect that they will make on LITA’s improvement.
Flawed systems in the organization will be assigned a full time project manager who will be monitoring the progress of those systems. This will lead to improvement hence fostering cost effectiveness in the departments which have flawed systems. A formal governance structure in Information Technology will be developed to foster easier management. Therefore IT resources will be responsibly used, proper management of risks and exploitation of IT opportunities. This governance structure will be to improve the mission and vision of the organization.
An information technology security plan will be established to reduce the cost that is used to recover from security crisis in the organization. All improvements will be made on a basis of increasing the IT technology world’s complexity, increasing security measure needs and pressure increase on LITA. A governance structure and framework will be foster simplified management.
To foster easier and simplified communication, I will implement more usage of social media in LITA since it will improve business processes, lower maintenance costs, be a solution to the complaints of the employees among others. It is a key factor when it comes to marketing since it increases marketing products and services even through advertisements. We will have real time updates that will be are associated with social media. Customers and the organization will be enhanced into relationship building due to the fast communication, feedback and responses.
Customers will be able comment in the blogs, Social media accounts of LITA for instance twitter, YouTube and Facebook as well. This will be a good way of getting feedback to the organization as a result of LITA’s their products and services. Its use will improve system interoperability, standardize interfaces and help in knowing how the clients and customers think about your services and products. I can also encourage the use of mobile devices. Staff will be provided with personal devices for working.
Wi-Fi will be installed in the company to help the staff and management have easier communication, research, communication with outside parties.
Communication with customers in the marketing department will be fostered and running errands in LITA organization will be faster. A technological roadmap will be developed to readily foster the new emerging technologies that will be implemented in the organization. Requirements needed are capability, partner willingness and collaboration power, the organizations and partners’ individual capability, automation and integration are as well needed.
Implementation plan for emerging technologies which emerging technologies are you referring to.
In order to implement an implementation plan for LITA, a roadmap to adopting the emerging technologies has to be implemented. This helps in evaluating the organization’s readiness for development of the new emerging technologies. A framework or roadmap with financial, technological and human capability within LITA. Requirements needed are capability, partner willingness and collaboration power, the organizations and partners’ individual capability, automation and integration are as well needed.
I will need to outline the benefits and risks of the new change. A cost and benefit analysis may help in decision making of whether to implement and continue with the new project or drop it. A limited test of the emerging technology is important to first assess it rather than incurring great losses. A communication plan document with status, cost, issue resolutions and timetables to show how communication should take place between the vendors, employees and consultants in the implementation plan. An eye should be kept open to accommodate new emerged technologies. The technology should be evaluated against the organization’s objectives, aims, strategies and goals. Having a list of questions on the usefulness of the emerging technology. Sentence incomplete.
