Introduction
The healthcare sector has immensely impressed social media in the communication due to many benefits it provides.
Social media is currently used as a research tool in healthcare sector.
Communication is an essential aspect between patients and Healthcare providers and social media has helped to ensure effective communication.
The use of social media for communication in the healthcare sector has both positive and negative impacts.
There are also potential ethical issues related to the utilization of social media in the healthcare sector.
Ethical implications of social media in healthcare
Before social media, communication between patient and healthcare providers consisted of direct contact and questioning.
This kind of communication was confidential, trustworthy and private.
Current communication between patients and healthcare providers is now carried through through emails, Facebook, texting to name just a few.
The use of these channels have both positive as well as negative impacts on the healthcare sector.
The presentation focuses on Email, Facebook and Texting usage in the healthcare sector.
Traditionally, the communication between the patient and the healthcare providers consisted of direct contact as well as direct questioning. This kind of communication was typically founded on confidentiality, trust as well as privacy (Richter, Muhlestein, & Wilks, 2014). However, currently, Social media is rapidly occupying the healthcare sector. Currently, healthcare providers are communicating with their patients through channels such as emails, Facebook, texting. Despite the various advantages it has, there are also several disadvantages associated with the use of social media on healthcare sector.

Email communication in healthcare
Pros
It provides an easy way to communicate between health professionals
It permits easy referencing and this enhance simple routine checks questions Cons
It seems to be replacing the in patient visits by patients and this might negatively affect the healthcare organization financially.
Email communication is the exchange of information/messages between two individual over the computer network. This may include the healthcare provider and the patient. The various advantages: easy to use, cheaper , permits easy referencing and help to save on cost and time because communication can be done anywhere (Lambert, Barry, & Stokes, 2012).

Facebook in healthcare
Pros
Facebook may be utilized as a research tool in the healthcare field.
Permits easy and cheaper way for patients to communicate with their healthcare providers Cons
Facebook does not provide much privacy
Lack of privacy because all the information posted in fb is always public.
Facebook is a social media platform that can be used for communication. It consist of a large network with large audience. Has many advantages including: can be used as a research tool in healthcare sector, allows easy communication between patients and healthcare providers (Lambert, Barry, & Stokes, 2012). The major cons of using Facebook is that it does not have privacy since anyone can see your communication.

Texting
Pros
Texting is an easy way and fast way of communication
Health care professionals can send the message to many different patients at the same time and within a short time (Richter, Muhlestein, & Wilks, 2014)
Communications can be saved for future reference
Cons
Messages can be easily missed and this can cause serious implications.
Texting is communicating using electronic messages. It usually involves brief exchange of messages using mobile devices. Various advantages include: testing is the easiest way to communicate, allows the healthcare providers to send messages to many patients at once and at a short time. Communication may be saved for future references. Some disadvantages of texting include: the message can be easily missed and this may result in negative implications (Richter, Muhlestein, & Wilks, 2014).

Conclusion
The use of social media in healthcare is increasing at an alarming rate.
Ethical guidelines for guiding the use of social media is very insufficient.
The privacy of the patients is not guaranteed with the use social media.
Confidentially and privacy must be upheld by social media (Richter, Muhlestein, & Wilks, 2014)
Doctors don’t spend adequate time with patients and this might make it difficult to monitor the progress of the patients .
