Assessment Task 3: Skills Test - Project Project: Set up of User accounts and User/System Support mechanisms

For the effective management of the IT infrastructure and IT resources, the System Administrator needs to create User Accounts and Profiling System. This is the basic requirement of any IT setup as by creating User accounts more security can be provided to not only the IT resources but also to the data of the organisation. The System Administrator also needs to provide the application, system and the user support, so whatever issues arise, it can be handled easily. The support mechanism will help the end users including the staff and the students to use the IT setup effectively and efficiently.

The student will act as the System Administrator and needs to perform the following tasks in the supervision of the trainer/assessor who will monitor the task and will also ensure that all the setup and creation of user accounts are done according to the requirements.

The LAN setup defined in the above scenario will be used by the student for the setup of user accounts and the support mechanism.

For the set up of User accounts and User/System Support mechanisms the student needs to perform the following tasks:

 Create user accounts and also user profiles. The profiles need to be created as per the hierarchical system and as per the privileges that need to be assigned according to the role of each user.

 You need to create user accounts in the Active Directory of the Windows and also do the following: o Create the account in AD. o Set identity attributes (job title, phone numbers, and so on) o Create the account’s mailbox o Make the account a member of groups that are appropriate to the user’s role o Register the AD account in other applications, as necessary

 Also, setup monitoring security procedure while implementing the access control and implementation of strong passwords to each user account/profile.

 The student needs to assess and set rules for the deletion of user accounts on breaching the rules of usage by the end users.

 Being the System Administrator, you need to implement the support network so that to provide responsive user support to the users.

 Also, investigate /troubleshoot different issues causing the effects on the performance of the IT setup.

 Taking one real time example, evaluate the request for troubleshooting a network related issue (for example: the trainer can ask to troubleshoot network disconnection).

 Implement an activity plan for the troubleshooting including timelines, specific goals, investigative team and resources required to conduct the troubleshooting.

 Conduct the troubleshooting according to the set of procedures/action plan and as per the requirement.

 Analyse different issues and troubleshoot the issues.  Perform backup of the data on Server and the restoration of the data on a secondary desktop.
