The purpose of this checklist The pre-assessment checklist helps students determine if they are ready for assessment. Assessment task description:
This is the second (2) task you must successfully complete to be deemed competent in this unit of competency.
This task is a continuation of the previous assessment task. This assessment task comprises of a report. The student is required to interpretation and documentation of the Network Resources,
Cyber Security Attacks and their implications You must attempt all criteria to the required level, e.g. the assessment criteria mentioned
in the performance checklist needs to be deemed satisfactory in this task. For your trainer/assessor to assess your competency in this assessment task, you must
prepare your report on your interpretation and documentation of the implementation of the security Measures by following all instructions outlined.
You will receive your feedback within two weeks, and you will be notified by your trainer/assessor when results are available.
Applicable conditions:
This test is untimed and is conducted as an open book assessment (this means you are able to refer to your textbook or other learner materials during the test).
You will be assessed independently on this assessment task. No marks or grades are allocated for this assessment task. The outcome of the task will be
Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory. As you complete this assessment task, you are predominately demonstrating your
knowledge and skills to your trainer/assessor. The trainer/assessor may ask you relevant questions during this assessment task.
Resubmissions and reattempts:
Where a student’s answers are deemed not satisfactory after the first attempt, a resubmission attempt will be allowed.
The student may speak to their trainer/assessor if they have any difficulty in completing this task and require reasonable adjustments.

This assessment task requires you to complete a report. The report should be based upon the work completed as part of Assessment tasks 2-4. The report must highlight the key areas of improvement and suggest corrective actions. You will be required to correctly attempt all parts of this assessment task. The word limit for this assessment task is 1000- 1100 words.
Purpose of the assessment
The purpose of this assessment task is to assess the students’ knowledge and skills essential to recruit, select and induct staff in a range of contexts and industry settings.

Assessment Task 2 - Report
SCANERIO:
Dallas Institute of Technology-DIT is a private Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with a campus based in South East of Melbourne. It is famous for its courses in IT and Project Management. It offers over 10 certificate and diploma level qualifications in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector for a large number of subject areas including business, community services, education, information technology, health, hospitality, and many others. Students select from one of two study shifts (morning or afternoons) to undertake study which is self- directed in nature or trainer led, and to undertake assessments. With the self-directed courses, trainers/assessors are on hand to handle student’s queries, while other courses are trainer led. There are currently 500 students that attend the institute across a wide range of classrooms. Depending on their studies, students who require access to a computer are given access Windows 10 desktop machine and a word processor and other software applicable to their studies plus access the internet. For classes that are self-directed, all learning materials are provided in print format, as are the assessments. Student management system is undertaken on a bespoke applications called “Student Manager”. Student Manager is a tool used to record student attendance, unit completion, student’s notes, and other applicable student management tasks.
Dallas Institute of Technology-DIT use a mixture of laptops and desktop machines which all have Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2016 installed on them. The network is managed by two servers:
An Admin server has Windows Server 2016 installed on it and is used by the employees of Delta Institute of Technology-DIT. It includes active directory, DNS, DHCP, and acts as the gateway to the internet. It also asks as an application server for the Student manager application and its associated database.
A Student server also has Windows Server 2016 installed on it and is used by the students for study purposes. It also has active directory on it, and a separate domain implementing DNS and DHCP services.
MOODLE: An Academic Management System has also been implemented in the college and it contains all the student’s academic resources along with assessments. All the student record is managed using this online management system
The head office of the Dallas Institute of Technology -DIT is situated in the CBD of Melbourne. The IT department is responsible for the management of the IT infrastructure. The network includes the LAN that connects the desktops, Laptops, Scanners, Printers, Login Machines and all the hand held and BYOD (Bring your Own Device). Also, a WAN has been implemented to connect the other campuses to the head office. Mark, is working as the System Administrator and is responsible for the management of the IT resources along with the implementation of the security protocols to the network and the data along with the support to the end users. Here end users are defined as the staff, management of the college and the students. Mark, as system administrator manages and administers the networks and make recommendations for improved user support. The job description of Mark as a System Administrator are as under:

The student will act as Mark-System Administrator and being the in charge of the IT department and the System Administrator you need to write a report and need to present it to the management about the maintenance of the IT infrastructure. You will not only include the process to maintain and manage the IT department but will also include the cost benefit analysis of the database optimisation and the administration.
This assessment task requires the student to write a system maintenance, training and cost benefit analysis of Database optimization and administration. This report will act as an official document for the user support and system maintenance of the IT resources and the network. In other words, this document will act as an official document of College’s IT support.
You will assume/take on the role of the System Administrator at the institute to complete this assessment task.
The report should be prepared for the management of the organisation for which you have taken the project.
Your report must follow these guidelines and must include the following:
Methods used for the optimisation of the database Explain the methods for the effective database administration and also highlight the following
methods used for database administration: o Database installation and configuration. o Data security. o User creation and maintenance. o Database backups and recovery. o Database performance tuning and optimization. o Data transformation and loading. o Reporting and querying.
Training instructions for the new users to ensure effective database optimization and administration
Include Monitoring system to analyse the following: o Error logs, o Aging time o Database checks o System loading
The report must also include instructions/training for the other IT personal about system problems and their solutions
The report must assess the data storage space available for the different implemented systems and also mechanism if the space runs out or the storage space is near to fill.
Include system measurements from the end user prospect to ensure the following: o Response time o Troubleshoot problems/issues
The report must include the complete cost benefit analysis of the implementation of the database optimization and its administration and also include the RoI – Return on Investment for the implementation to the organization. You need to calculate the CBA and RoI with at least one real time example.

The report also needs to include the system backup and restoration procedures for the efficiency of the IT setup and that later can be used for training purposes.
