Informative Brief (Synthesis Essay)

The purpose of this assignment is to research and become familiar with your chosen topic for this project. Chose a topic from Opposing Viewpoints: (http://go.galegroup.com/ps/start.do?p=OVIC&u=north1010)

From there do additional research of 5 sources (you’ll probably want two from each major side of the issue for a balanced breakdown). By the end of this brief you should consider yourself the class “expert” on this issue. Your paper should reflect this which means it will address history and context and the multiple competing sides of the issue. Do not take a stand though, your job is to tell everyone in the class all about this issue and why they should care. Your audience is your peers. Be sure to consider questions a novice to your given topic might have. The final paper should be no shorter than 3 pages and no longer than 4 (remember you should be concise and clear) utilizing a common 12-point font (Times New Roman, Arial, etc), double spaced, 1” margins. At least 6 sources (opposing viewpoints counts as a source) must be used in the final draft.
