Strengths (What do I do well?)

Weaknesses (Where can I make improvements?)

· I have honesty and integrity which helps me stick to my core beliefs and core beliefs. Ethics is my core strength.

· I am always confident in the decisions I make and with the things I do. As a result, I show some assertiveness and confidence which will gain me respect form my subordinates.

· I am characterized by commitment and passion in all the tasks and things that I do. I carry out my tasks full of passion and commitment to obtain better results despite the challenges.

· I am creative and innovative whereby I come up with unique ideas which I turn to into reality guided by goals.

· I will try and develop empathy with my followers which will help me drop the dictatorial style of leadership.

· I am always uncomfortable with delegating duties and empowering other people. I will try and stick to key responsibilities and leave other activities to my followers.

· Sometimes I fear to be accountable for the actions of other people (Johnson, 2018). As a leader, I will have to assume any blame in case a member of my team does something wrong.

· I have had weaknesses in communicating effectively. I find it difficult to listen to my subordinates which I have to improve.

Opportunities (What kinds of things could I be doing based on my strengths?)

Threats (Where could I be using my strengths and talents more productively?)

· Honesty and integrity will help me in convincing my subordinates the importance of openness.

· Confidence in decisions and activities will help me empower my subordinates with confidence in my decisions and actions in our team.

· Commitment and passion will help me carry out risky activities with a boldness which will result in more significant outcomes.

· Creativity and innovativeness will help me to find ways to deal with difficult situations which need creativity for their success.

· Poor communication- I will always gather my team regularly to resolve disagreements and increase collaboration.

· Entitlement attitude- I will give no one the luxury of resting based on previous success. I will reward subordinates who will put forth the effort and adopt new technology or best practices.

· Failure to develop- I will not only train subordinates but will also assign new tasks and projects in order to develop them.

· Failure to empower- I will use my capabilities and skills to empower subordinates.

Reflection

The most exciting thing in the SWOT analysis is seeing how I will use my strengths to overcome various threats in my career as a leader. Leaders face certain threats in the course of leadership such as failure to develop subordinates, poor communication, dealing with an entitlement attitude, and the inability to coach subordinates upwards. However, I realized that putting one’s strengths into good practice can overcome these threats. For example, effective communication neutralizes the risk of poor communication from other members. On the other hand, I realized that the strength of integrity and honesty might help overcome the problem of accountability in the team. When a leader is honest and open, the subordinates can emulate this personality and become accountable for their actions.
