Annotated Bibliography

HIST G175 Instructor’s instruction: Research Paper about History (Submissions must be at least 6 pages in length, typed, double -spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font. include 3-4 direct quotes maximum. Papers may be no longer than eight pages. The page length excludes the bibliography.)

This is NOT a book report. I do NOT want you to simply summarize or review the major themes of the book alone. Instead, you will use this book to identify a topic or an area of interest, and then formulate a college-level research question to serve as the focus of your paper. You will then use your book-length primary source, and supplemental secondary sources, as evidence to support your thesis and overall argument. For example, if you were writing a research paper using To Kill a Mockingbird, your research topic might be on the role of literature in social movements during the 1960s.

Primary source: The Jungle, Upton Sinclair (pdf file attach to read, you don’t have to read the whole book, just a few for quotation or you can use quotation from 2nd sources — I recommend you to watch book’s summary on youtube )

Secondary sources: - minimum 4-6 scholarly secondary sources - (2nd sources from Google scholar) - MLA, APA, or Chicago style, although Chicago style is

recommended - Secondary sources must be scholarly, peer-reviewed

sources. I recommend utilizing either journal articles or published books
