Here is the list of patient’s services offered at the health care setting you selected for your sustainability initiative: Resuscitation and Emergency Care, Fluoroscopy, Enterprise telehealth, Mammography, Mother and Child Care, Patient Monitoring, Hospital Respiratory Care, Diagnostic ECG, Advanced Molecular Imaging, Computed Tomography, Radiography, Radiation Oncology, Pathology and Clinical Informatics, Sleep and Respiratory Care.

Resuscitation and Emergency Care: Implementation of the sustainability initiative will reduce the number of physiological disorders such as breathing difficulties that occur in patients. This initiative will reduce instances of cardiac arrest and therefore few cardiac arrest instances will ensure that there is an improved resuscitation performance in the respiratory health setting. Adoption of techniques such as training refreshers, debriefing, automated feedback, and refreshers training will also improve the resuscitation performance (Bi & Hansen, 2018). Use of advanced technological methods such as the use of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles that are environmentally friendly will facilitate a quick response to emergency services and therefore reduce the number of deaths that result due to lack of swift response (Driscoll & Levy, 2015).

Hospital Respiratory Care: Implementation of the sustainability initiative will reduce the number of respiratory health problems, and this will enhance improved critical care, close monitoring, and an improved breath delivery system that will promote a good and effective respiratory care in the hospitals (Bi & Hansen, 2018). These improved standards of services in the hospitals will reduce risks and minimize costs spent by patients in search for better treatment services in many health facilities. This initiative will ensure the provision of personalized therapies that ensure patients respond fast and appropriately to their changing health conditions (Haines & Dora, 2013).

Sleep and respiratory care: Reduction of carbon emissions from the transport sector will ensure that poisonous gases are eliminated from the air. These will facilitate the end of difficult breathing in many patients diagnosed with respiratory diseases. Moreover, the reduction of respiratory diseases will ease the work of the health practitioners and enable them to develop respiratory management systems that will restore the patients’ ability to sleep and breath naturally (Driscoll & Levy, 2015). This initiative will encourage smooth transitions that will enhance effective patient care. This initiative will reduce the effects of global warming on respiratory diseases. Global warming has adverse effects on the respiratory system which include an increase in the impact of respiratory diseases such as pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis, lung cancer and pulmonary diseases. Use of this initiative will help in curbing the major health hazard that is as a result of the dangerous respiratory diseases and provides control measures that reduce the effects of global warming on the respiratory system (Bi & Hansen, 2018). The initiative will ensure the provision of effective respiratory care services to the patients.

Patient Monitoring: This initiative will ensure that patients receive close monitoring services that will enable the provision of quick, consistent and confident care. The initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gases will decrease the number of respiratory diseases, and therefore the number of patients suffering from respiratory diseases will reduce in hospitals. A small number of patients is easy to manage and monitor closely. According to the technological advancements in the medical sector, this initiative will encourage the use of machines and equipment that does not emit carbon gases. The initiative will encourage power backup generators, and all the vehicles in the hospital will use bioethanol fuel that does not emit carbons and provide power to the healthcare IT systems and devices. The availability of power even in cases of blackout ensures a close patient monitoring system (Driscoll & Levy, 2015).

The sustainability initiative on carbon reduction will improve patient care and enhance positive outcomes. For health to be sustained in the society, there must be the existence of strategies and measures that safeguard the underlying systems that surround human beings (Driscoll & Levy, 2015). Human beings depend on the underlying systems for their health and development. The measures and strategies will assist in reducing greenhouse emissions and hence prevent biodiversity loss and premature deaths. A low carbon economy promotes the achievement of public health goals (Driscoll & Levy, 2015). The low carbon economy ensures the availability of a good public health practice that meets the patients’ satisfaction. This sustainability initiative will reduce the number of premature deaths that result from respiratory diseases and therefore increase the life expectancy of the patients as a sign of a positive outcome. This initiative will convince citizens to shift away from coal combustion as a source of power to other alternatives, and this will reduce emissions of carbon dioxide. Research is undertaken by WHO in the year 2004 in India indicated that there were 90 000 premature deaths annually that resulted from the atmospheric concentration of the carbon particles (Bi & Hansen, 2018). The reduction in coal combustion instances will reduce the patient’s mortality rate. Another important fact is that the sustainability initiative will reduce instances of indoor pollution. Indoor pollution is associated with cases of pneumonia and chronic pulmonary diseases. The reduction in deaths and diseases will integrate an effective patient-doctor relationship that will promote teamwork and care coordination among the practitioners and therefore improve patients care (Haines & Dora, 2013).

Improved houses design and insulation reduces the emission of greenhouse gases and protect individuals from harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun that results in skin diseases. This initiative will ensure that proper and adequate ventilations are built in residential houses and institutions such as hospitals to prevent the transmission of the respiratory diseases in a healthcare setting (Haines & Dora, 2013). Adequate ventilation improves the quality of life to asthmatic patients and therefore giving them more hope for a longer life. The hope in patients for a better life and health promotes transparency between the patient and the doctor and therefore improving the outcomes. When the doctor and the patient have a good relationship, the doctor goes ahead and ensures there is a continuity of care after the patient has been discharged (Driscoll & Levy, 2015). The engage and support of patients after discharge by their physicians has been said to result in positive developments in the patient outcomes and expectations (Bi & Hansen, 2018). In addition, the initiative provides the patients with information on better and healthy diets that will not result in health complications. Lack of proper knowledge will result in excessive consumption of meat and dairy products that contain saturated fat. This excessive consumption of saturated fats results in increased heart diseases and stroke (Haines & Dora, 2013). This initiative majorly concentrates on the welfare of the patient and betterment of the health status. Implementation of this initiative will lead to more positive outcomes which will be achieved through active participation of the patients during the treatment process (Haines & Dora, 2013). A clear communication between the two parties is the key to an effective patient care.
