Part 1: Survey of Materials
A: We were given samples of some martials like wood plastics, different types of metals and rocks. Following were our observation
Look of materials:
Carbon Steel
Aluminum
Rock
Cast Iron
Steel
Wood
Touch, handle and feel of materials:
Wood was easy to handle and it was soft and light weight. Steel was hard and Aluminum was relatively soft to touch. cast iron was in the raw form and was harder than aluminum. Rock material was heavy weight and soft to touch.

Comparison of application of these materials:
Wood: Wood is used for making furniture and stairs and doors. It is also used as fuel.
Cast iron: It is used in number of applications in daily life like holding fluids in pipes, pans, pots and other domestic useable things. It is also used in industries at large scale for machines and tools.
Steel: it is used in manufacturing of heavy machinery, construction of roads and bridges and also has number of application in daily life.
Rock: it is used for making cement, building material and cosmetics and it is also being used in new technologies.
Aluminum: it is used in manufacturing of pipes, stairs, windows, vehicles parts.
