You must demonstrate well-documented MATLAB code to receive super points for this assignment. Super points can be added to increase the points you received for any assignment previously taken in this class. No feedback will be provided. Please remember that all aspects of UH Academic Honesty policy apply to this assignment as well.
Problem 1 [25 super points]: Automatically identify each of the red blood cells (RBCs) contained within one well in the first frame, and then track each of the cells throughout the duration of the movie clip. You code must show the movie frame-by-frame, with tracked RBCs identified. (You can pick any well for which all four sidewalls are visible.)
Problem 2 [25 super points]: Record position of the center of each RBC with respect to the side walls of the well. For each cell, plot a histogram of incremental displacements occurring between frames (both in X and Y). Determine whether displacements of two different cells correlate between each other (again, in both directions). What can the histogram of displacements tell you about the effective diffusion coefficient? (You may find Lec 17 “Diffusion+Advection+Reaction (solution)” helpful.)
SUBMISSION: Submit your code (please do not include the original movie file) via email directly to Prof. Sergey Shevkoplyas ([email protected]).
