Summary

The health sector is among the industries that are growing and developing at a very high speed, thus making is among the most popular areas. A lot of developments have been made in the sector where various stakeholders have contributed a lot to the advancements in the industry. Many governments across the world have tried their best to fight and remain stable in the fight against illnesses. However, there have been countless challenges that face the healthcare sector. One of the main problems is an increased number of chronic diseases, which are making it difficult to manage the industry entirely. Chronic kidney disease is leading in the list of chronic and fatal illnesses.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a condition that has a prolonged effect on the body of the patients and has been associated with renal failure. It affects the kidney's ability to undertake its usual duties, which include filtration of the body floods. When a patient has CKD, the organ is overpowered by the function of blood filtration, and this ends up making the kidney to fail terribly. There are two leading causes of CKD, which are diabetes and high blood pressure. In most cases, CKD occurs in the people who are aged and those who had previous or family history of the same diseases. When CKD starts, it has very mind signs and symptoms, and one might not be quick to realize that he is sick (Thomas, 2019). One can live with the disease for a long time without realizing it. However, when the disease develops and reaches the acute stage, it becomes fatal, and intensive and instant care is needed.at this stage, the attention given to the patient has to be very robust and of high quality, and failure to this can result into death. If the care provided is of high quality, the patient might regain his/her kidney to normal. At some point, a kidney transplant might be needed for the patients. Across the world, chronic kidney diseases are affecting people and even resulting in deaths daily. The ends, which are kidney failure related that are reported on a daily basis, are about two hundred, and those who live with the diseases, is about thirty-seven million.

The fight against chronic kidney diseases (CKD) has been intensified, and various bodies and organizations have come up with strategies to curb the illness. The United States has been in the front line in the war against CKD, and it came up with the Healthy People Program, which is aimed at promoting and preventing diseases across the United States. The program was established by the US Department of Health and Human Services (Bomback & Bakris, 2010). The health people 2020 schedule has also been targeting how the deaths, as well as other effects associated with CKD, can be minimized. When a patient is diagnosed with CKD, there is a lot of the impact that come about that include economic challenges and even death. The healthy people 2020 program is, therefore, targeting on how these deaths can be minimized and also how the financial risks can be mitigated. The program is also aimed at educating the people on how to prevent the occurrence of CKD by embracing a healthy lifestyle and proper medication. The causal factors, which are diabetes and high blood pressure, are lifestyle diseases, and by preventing them, one can be at a good position in preventing CKD.

The CKD programs that The healthy people 2020 program has provided

The CKD can be prevented and managed through ensuring that the members of the society are provided with adequate resources that can provide knowledge and skills to manage CKD. These resources include the American Association of kidney patients, the American kidney funds, and the National kidney disease education program. They have provided a lot of insight to the patients and also to the members of the society.

The CKD resources have both positive and negative effects on the members of society, mostly the vulnerable populations. The main advantages include increasing life expectancy and the bettering of the living conditions of CKD patients. The main disadvantages include discrimination during the provision of resources (Friedman, 2012).

The support is given to chronic kidney patients

Chronic kidney disease is hazardous and can be fatal to the patients if not properly managed. The patients’ needs are a lot of assistance and help, which include medication management, peer support, diet, and nutrition information, and education.

To fully ensure that CKD is managed, the objectives of healthy People 2020 should be implemented. These objectives are aimed at minimizing and managing chronic kidney disease. Every stakeholder has a role to play in ensuring that the patients of CKD are cared for and that occurrence of the disorders is prevented in all means possible. The nurses have a role in ensuring that they educate the patients about the illness and also diagnose it at an early stage so that it can be managed before it goes too far. The most significant economic impact of CKD is that it denies the patients an opportunity to continue working and might also force them to sell their properties to fund the medication process.
