Substance abuse is the topic which I have chosen to discuss whereby this is considered to be the use of the illegal drug or having the use of the non-prescribed over the counter drugs and even alcohol for the purpose which are not originally intended for the substance which ash been purchased by the user. Substance abuse would be termed as the excess amounts intake of the drugs which have been either prescribed by the healthcare physician or even having the overdose intake for the drugs or substance which has not been prescribed such as having excessive consumption of the alcohol and even having the underdose intake of the prescribed drugs would also be termed as substance abuse as it was originally intended to be taken as in low amounts. There are different types of drugs that are commonly abused including the inhalants, hallucinogens, cocaine, alcohol, marijuana, and many more whereby they are most abused due to the factors related to the cost, availability of the drugs, and even the higher rate of addiction levels which is associated by their frequent use (Sanan, 2021).

Different factors are contributing to having much more drug abuse in the current society mostly among young people than among older people. These contributing factors include peer pressure whereby person tends to be having the highest probability of having drug abuse if their friends are also having the drug abuse. Peer pressure when related to curiosity factors also helps on having the general idea that the drug abuse is happening much in youths due to their curiosity that they want to be having the taste what these drugs taste like and thus ending up having the addiction levels increase and also having the drug abuse. Family history of having substance abuse is another very contributing factor which is noted to be making the drugs available for abuse by anyone, and also having the genetic factors of taking drugs which contribute to having families with a higher number of drug abusers (VanGeest et al., 2017).

In addition to that, there is the parental substance abuse whereby having parents that are drug abuses increases the risk of having drug abuse because the environment under which the child is being brought up is having the drugs and learning the behaviors of drug abuse thus making it a higher probability percentage of having a higher rate of drug abuse. The family rejection of having the gender identity and also the sexual orientation would also be very important in the understanding of the various factors under it whereby this contributes to having drug abuse in trying to look for a better comfort thing which would help reduce the effects related to the issues indicated. Lack of education or having higher illiteracy levels in the communities is also contributing factor based on the fact that person is not educated on the effects of the drug abuse shortly and also in the young generation, thus having major risk being observed (Sanan, 2021).

Poor parental monitoring is another contributing factor to substance abuse whereby the parents normally expose their children to drug abuse mostly for the one who has been having the use of these drugs and keeping them carless at home thus making them very readily available for the children. Also, poor parenting in terms of the idea of not providing their children with eth needed information, values, and principles on the drug and substance abuse thus contributes to having the children who are more likely to be having drug abuse. Substance abuse is noted to be having major health risks and other related effects in the community which are not only health whereby some of these effects include having increased rate of poverty levels as a person are not able to work and earn a living and thus making them very vulnerable to having the poverty-stricken group. There is also a lack of proper communication and increased aggressiveness and irritability also being observed in the person who is having abuse such as cocaine and thus ending up being a risk to other persons in the community and even to themselves (VanGeest et al., 2017).

The continued habit of substance abuse is noted to be contributing to major health issues based on the drug which is being whereby some diseases are noted to be emanating from these habits such as the heart disease, liver disease, kidney issues, and many more for example the alcohol abuse in greater amounts is noted to be contributing to liver cirrhosis disease and many more. In addition to that, there is also the loss of the future productivity as some of these drugs being abused are noted to be contributing to the loss of infertility and also one not able to have proactive energy even at early old ages and thus remaining productivity questionable because of the effects of drug abuse. Another effect is the mental health-related issues which are very common for the person having a higher rate of substance abuse (addiction affected persons) as they are likely to be having headaches, loss of memory or inactivity based on the drug which is being abused such as alcohol contribute into having body inactivity other than one takes the alcohol. Other effects of having the drug abuse include psychosocial dysfunctioning, family related issues and even breaks of marriages, lack of education or effect of not attending school, and the biggest threat is death based on the drug being abused and the reactions after the certain drug has been abused (Natarajan, 2017).

In conclusion, various factors can be put into consideration which would help on reducing the substance abuse within the current societies such as by having the education of the communities on the effects of the drugs being abused such as death and other health-related illness which might be putting person health at risk. Effectively dealing with the peer pressure would also help on reducing the drug abuse amongst the youths and also helps on dealing with pressure from it. Also, dealing with the pressure of life such as having the loss of employment, loved one loss and many more which would be achieved with the help of the healthcare professionals and the psychologist would be an important factor if solved thus reducing any probability of having drug abuse. Seeking the mental health help thus helping on dealing with the disease condition and also living a well-balanced life would help on reducing any instances of having stress that might contribute to drug abuse (Angogo et al., 2011).
