December 28, 2021 Brent, Thank you for your resubmission. There appears to be stronger attempts at addressing each criteria. Due to lacking organization, it's unclear if you address the components for this project. You must work on organization, keeping like-ideas and sections together, and avoiding sticking content in random places. The Fair Use section has been enhanced well. Please discuss Creative Commons and what it entails to wrap up this section. 

Additionally, you have a copyright discussion paragraph floating in a different section (photo editing section, paragraph starts "Copyright law could be one potential cause of legal liability..."). Place this paragraph in the actual section where you discuss copyright instead of in an unrelated section. 

12/14/2021: Nice job explaining copyrighted works!  Please also list the four criteria for evaluating fair use, and explain Creative Commons. What is it, and why is it important?

Add some brief discussion of key court rulings and events that have had an impact on disclosure of sources in media and journalism. What is the significance of the Supreme Court’s ruling in the New York Times v. Sullivan case? Has 911 had an impact on the perception of the protections afforded journalism? Organization lacks in this submission. Because of lacking organization, it's difficult to tell if you are addressing all of the components. You must work on keeping like-ideas together. Think of each criteria as a section header, Brent. This will help with organization. Adding clear header will 1) Separate your content to assist you in clearly addressing each section, and 2) Will help you determine where content goes so it flows in a clear, logical manner instead of jumping around . It's a guidelines document, and if content isn't in a clear, logical order, you're going to lose the TalkBox community. Follow the order of the directions; place the relevant content for each section where they belong (where they appear in the directions list), and ensure the flow of the content makes sense. Work with a tutor available through your student resources to assist you with this step. 

· An explanation of copyright law and Creative Commons licensing

· What U.S. copyright law covers

· What categories of work are excluded

· What fair use is

· The potential impact of digital modification practices on company practices

· Manipulating news photos

· Explanations of relevant aspects of defamation law

· Slander

· Libel

· A discussion about confidential versus public sources of information. Additionally, discussion of the role of transparency as it relates to this issue.

· A description of privacy laws and what employees should do to avoid violating them

· Internal and external communications

· Protecting employee and customer private information

· An explanation of the potential impact of not following the guidelines

12/14/2021:  You express your ideas well overall, but the sections of your guidelines tend to run together, making it more difficult to follow.  Consider adding headings to separate and identify the different topics/sections of your guidelines. This helps greatly with organizing and clearly presenting your content.  You'll find helpful examples/models for formatting your guidelines by looking up (Googling) any of these organizations' websites:

Your use of in-text citations is inconsistent.  Make sure that you are providing in-text citations that exactly match your references.  You have a number of references with no corresponding in-text citations.  Again, for every reference there should be a matching in-text citation and vice versa.  Use the CfA Citation Guide link in the Supporting Materials section on the Project Instructions page for help with citing sources. That link will also give you access to the Citation Generator, which can help you create your in-text citations and references.
