CDC Protecting Public Health The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the leading federal health agency in the United States that protects and helps enhance the health of all people and communities. The CDC works with local, state, and federal agencies to provide the expertise and resources needed to promote health and prepare for emergencies. Its Web site provides extensive information on health-related topics.
Diseases and Conditions
The CDC Web site provides an extensive list of diseases and conditions ranging from arthritis to water-related diseases. Information can be found on the disease as well as the condition, such as causes, symptoms, and preferred treatment. A list of programs is included along with the tools and resources related to the topics, such as data and statistics and publications.
Healthy Living
This category on the CDC Web site includes information on ways to stay healthy. This information ranges from preventing diabetes to maintaining healthy joints as well as ensuring sexual health. The campaigns and programs that have been established to address healthy living topics are also listed. These include the Colorectal Cancer Control Program and the Healthy Communities Program.
