Week 2 has been one of the most reproductive weeks of the course that I got to learnt into details about the constitution and the judicial system of the United States. Some of the sources and websites that I used to acquire information on the judicial system include the internet and public administration related books. These materials were very crucial as they gave important information and details of the constitution and the judicial system. Some of the most important information that I learnt about the constitution are that it is divided into seven different articles that are numbered using Roman numerals I-VII. I also learnt that each article has sections that define and clarify the article. Additionally, there are key players who I can interact with in the future as a public administrator the lawyers and the judges. They will be there to help pass justice as well as to punish those who are found in the wrong side of the law. Notably, I learnt that the judicial system of U.S. government was created by article III of the U.S. constitution. I also learned that as an administrator, I must fully understand the responsibilities of legislation and also know that there are other committees that have other output. All these were fully explained in the course and thus I clearly understood these duties.

Additionally, there was the topic on the Supreme Court as well as the U.S. Court system. I learned that the judicial branch of the government was created by the article three of the constitution and it was during this time that there was no federal court system and instead the state is the one that had control over the loosely interpreted rule of law. Something else that was very crucial was that the Congress was given the responsibility of shaping the judiciary as well as decides the number of cases that would serve to the Supreme Court. Another responsibility of the Congress that I learnt is that they were given the power of setting up courts that were inferior to the Supreme Court. As a result, the any court cases have resulted to the future rulings of the judiciary system of the U.S. among the Supreme Court’s decisions that have an impact on my local area is that the court does not conduct any trail cases, instead it hears the cases that are brought to it through the appeal process through certiorari. This means that at least four of the justices feel that the case has strong merit to be heard. I realized that there are so many certiorari which have been brought to the Supreme Court but only a few of them are usually heard.

Moreover, there was more to learn about the congressional output as well as the committee work. Notably, both the House of Representative and the U.S. Senate has go many committees as well as subcommittees. I discovered that the real work of the committee is normally done in committee and this is also where bills are initially assigned, debated and then amended. It is possible for a bill to remain in committee and never emerge. Something else to note was that the main roles of the committees are related to those of legislation but there are also other committees that have other outputs. Regarding the project that I am doing it is important to note that if a bill is passed by the two houses of Congress then it must be reconciled between the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate as this will allow the legislative body to pass the same bill without contradiction.
