The best structure for an organization that needs to be efficient is a flat organization (Quain, 2019). Easy wheels will need to create a lean organization that large enough to succeed but efficient enough to make timely decisions. This type of organization places a lot of trust into its supervisors. They are able to make decisions and keep things moving without waiting for approval. This approach has also been proven to have higher employee motivation leading to higher productivity and retainability (Quain, 2019).
Almost all organizations require the need to respond to change. This change needs to happen in small increments and it should never stop. Companies that try to change too much too fast are destined for failure (Mallinger, Goodwin, & O’Hara, 2017). Easy Wheels needs to establish a clear mission and goals (Mallinger, Goodwin, & O’Hara, 2017). Establishing these and ensuring everyone is familiar with them will guide a diverse culture. As they move into different regions to expand their sales careful attention will need to be maintained on these values. These leaders will need to be able to forecast when there is a need to change. Continuous analysis will need to occur to ensure innovation and competitiveness remain strong (Gleeson, 2014). To go along with these traits Easy Wheels will also need to build an organization that strives to be transparent (Cincotta, 2014). Collaboration is the key to the success during this transition. The changes that are needed will be easier to accomplish.

Black Hat Easy Wheels is a very successful company and can continue to be a successful company without moving to Japan. The first disadvantage to moving overseas to Japan is the cost of living. The cost of living here in Alabama is extremely low compared to the cost of living in Japan. If Easy Wheels move to Japan, the organization will be required to pay employees at the local Japanese rates. Failure to do so will leave our employees with less than adequate living conditions and may leave them vulnerable to moonlighting or poaching from other local businesses. Furthermore, Easy Wheels will need to navigate the legal regulations in America and in Asia. That will require additional payouts to lawyers and regulators. The best course of action for this company is to stay in Alabama and expand virtually into the Asian market. Yellow Hat According to Doing Business in Japan (2018) Japan is the third largest economy in the world and the fourth largest export market for American products. The opportunity for Easy Wheels to be successful in the Tokyo market is a practical and feasible calculation. Within this highly technical society, the 3D printing concept of Easy Wheels company can be easily grasped. The online activity from the Asian regions are tangible indicators that this market is welcoming to our product. In order to gain a substantial foothold in the Asian market, this company has to establish our presents in Tokyo and the global economy. |

Week 6 Collaboration This week's discussion will center around the steps in the process wearing the Yellow Hat of Positivity and the Black Hat of Negativity. Faculty will be the Blue Hat facilitator and when the Blue Hat is on everyone will follow the lead of the instructor. The yellow hat of positivity look for the positive aspects and a logical view for the company. Having this view majority of the time is not always a good thing. With having your positivity and confidence, all of the time about the company is a great sign of trust within the company but there are always flaws and some disarray that could happen for the worse. The benefits of 3D printing of the company include profit, will movement of products quicker, and it will eliminate error from the technician. Too much confidence and positivity in this effort could lead to disappointment. The black hat of negativity are more judgmental, critical and a stern judge of the company. This could affect the company by losing money and employees. Negativity is never good in a company, positivity is the critical state within the company that could help. If the employees feel negative about their product or about the company, this could be harsh. The negative aspects of 3D printing is loss of jobs and maintenance of machines. With automation taking over business and the production essentially, jobs will be lost which will make the employees fear.

In this week of collaboration explanation will focus on black hat and yellow hat making things clear about positive aspects and negative aspects of creativity or ideas presented by Shariff and Rickenbacker. This is part of Six Hat techniques which gives accurate information about ideas and its importance in making business decisions. Yellow hat presents positive aspects about the idea and black hats presents negative aspects of creativity. It aid persons to distinguish which idea to accept to make it liberal. It clearly defines the negative and positive aspects of idea. Discussing the yellow hat is declaring what is good in an idea and how good it is in term so measurement. The idea of Easy Wheels is absolutely creative and has future growth because of the new techniques owners utilized. Yellow hat presents optimistic view of the idea resented by managers. It actually strengthen the idea of creativity (Owens, 2012). On the other hand black hat is assumed as negative or pessimistic approach towards creativity. It gives clear prospect what is wrong with the idea and specify those areas accurately. This hat presents criticism on several aspects to identify risk and weakness in plan or company’s activities (Sloane, 2011). They are able to make suggestion based on the ideas presented for any specific problem. Like every organization Shariff and Rickenbacker think big. Believing in mistakes and learning to improve help individuals make best decisions. Easy Wheels idea is very useful and creative but the management needs to expand it globally making it possible to serve Tokyo because of increased demand. they have option to build a new warehouse in Tokyo which will automatically increase their operations cost and product price but the quality they are serving and price they offering the product is quite satisfying for the consumers. With expansion positive and negative factors should be observed and sought for best results. Easy Wheels has potential to lead market but owners need to identify factors and work according to those creatively. Creative thinks is a result of questions management ask why to think pout of the box (Corazza, 2014). Green hat boost level of thinking among entrepreneurs (Elmansy, 2015). |

Yellow Hat Opening new markets have the possibility to grow the business exponentially. The company was founded from providing veterans jobs and society access to wheelchairs. Moving into this new market will make that goal even bigger. If done properly, the growth will ensure that the employees have job stability and access to more benefits. Moving to manufacture to a lower cost location would allow them to increase profits, lower prices, or possibly both. They could also focus on corporate social responsibility, creating an ethical company that makes the world a better place (Apte, 2016). Black Hat There are a lot of unknowns when expanding. The expansion could also be seen as outsourcing. This may hurt the company’s image. Outsourcing is also extremely complicated. There are different laws, tax codes, regulations, and even a new customer base (Weidenbaum, 2005). Learning this new market will be time-consuming, expensive, and involve a lot of trial and error. It may take several years to get everything running smoothly. It will also be difficult to stick to the companies rule of only hiring veterans. |

Rickenbacker and Shariff’s major concerns of addressing emerging markets include aging population, technology change, and declining resources which are addressed by following the yellow hat of positivity and the black hat of negativity. Dominic Barton (2013) claims 1.2 million people per week are shifting from rural to urban areas and is expected to reach 3 billion middle class consumers by 2030. Leaders should recognize the differences in how people think around the globe. Barton estimates that Tokyo will rank number 3 on the list of emerging city economies for elderly, higher-income consumers. This information is a positive aspect of expanding the wheel chair business to Tokyo (2013). The aging population may also be a negative given the numbers of working adults over 60 years old. It is estimated that by 2050 it will take 3 workers to support 1 retiree, whereas thirty years earlier there will be 7 working adults to support 1 retiree. Technology is changing 5 times faster than management (Barton, 2013). Leadership needs to consider reinventing their business. Given that customization is part of the company’s business model, new products are created. 95% of data is useless. Understanding mining is a key factor in how it can assist the company to identify new opportunities. Commodity prices over the last 100 years for resources such as oil, gas, and basic minerals have dropped for 70 years, but the long-term trend is up 150% due to the billion new middle-class consumers (Barton, 2013). The strain on global resources is a great challenge. Easy Wheels benefits from an aging population but the negative aspects of declining resources are cause for concern. |
