Dewey, Caitlin. "The Many, Many Problems with FCKH8’s ‘Potty-Mouthed Princess’ Video." The Washington Post, 23 Oct. 2014, www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-intersect/wp/2014/10/23/the-many-many-problems-with-fckh8s-potty-mouthed-princess-video/. Accessed 25 Sep. 2020.
The author emphasizes the key problems faced by the potty-mouthed princess video that the discussion of wage disparities among genders, gender stereotypes and sexual harassment are all serious issues that a six-year-old cannot take on. Dewey argues that the video's language is completely offensive and contradictory to the entire definition of feminism. I assume that the authors' arguments would allow the investigator to bring together how feminist ideas in the young children are always inculcated. It will be useful in my research because it is credible in that the newspaper is well-renowned and its information would allow me to synthesize how feminism is depicted at a young age.
Illouz, Eva. Why love hurts: A sociological explanation. Polity, 2012.
The author asserts that most of the societies around us teach us to answer these questions by searching for the covert past of our faulty childhood and to illustrate how romantic lives are disorganized with defective psyches. I think he tries to understand why love hurts by stressing the social context of male and female confrontations, rather than the psychological context and it would be useful in my research to explore the intricacies of romantic love, besides, the article is reputable.
Sanders, Lise Shapiro. "Feminists love a utopia." Third wave feminism. Palgrave Macmillan, London, 2007. 3-15.
The author in the article differentiates between utopianism, denying history and a vision for future perfection, and realism, which in its realistic self-reflectivity stresses the importance of contingency and transition, in order to advance her case for going beyond utopia. I think that this difference leads her to conclude that if utopianism maps uncharted territories, then realism operates mainly in the known, pluralistic, confounding, and ultimately imperfect world. This would assist me to explore the scopes of utopia feminism. The author is well-renowned in writing about feminism.
Holmes, Mary. "Second-wave feminism and the politics of relationships." Women's studies international forum. Vol. 23. No. 2. Pergamon, 2000.
The author claims that interrogation contributes to an interpretation of sexuality as producing and creating social power relations. A feminist perception of power as 'power over' restricted this in-sight, which prevented a constructive study of disparities between women and could create personalized tension between feminists. I think that her claims are well within the discourse of feminism since they do not contravene societies social and power structures and it would assist me in my project to explore feminism historically.
