The setting that would be best for my piece of artwork would be a small local retail shop that sells décor pieces or clothing. The setting, organization, and population of people the art will be affecting would be the employees and customers at a small local retail shop in my area. The organization that I will be donating my art to is categorized as a boutique shop. My art will be placed as a décor piece to decorate the shop. Multiple employees and customers will be seeing/ affected by my artwork every day. The retail shop name is Maks Boutique, I have asked them if it was okay to display a piece of my artwork that I will be donating to them for their store front and they have agreed. People who are walking by the store front will also be affected by my art.
The population and setting chosen will be affected by the art in countless ways. They will be inspired by the artwork. The artwork can be a home décor inspiration piece for people as they are looking around the store for clothes, jewelry, and décor. Boutiques are known for having clothing, accessories, shoes, beauty products, and some home décor pieces. “Art is everywhere, influencing us on a daily basis, whether we realize it or not. With the art that we are surrounded by, whether it’s a painting, music or even videos can have a huge impact on our mood and emotions” (Norris, 2011). Artwork all around speaks to every person who sees it, whether it is inspiring, gives us ideas, or makes us think in a different way.
I think that this organization/setting and population will benefit from the art in numerous ways. They will benefit from being able to see creative work that might inspire them to be artistic. It might make people who see the artwork think about the art piece and the meaning behind it. Artwork can be used to decorate along with being enlightening at the same time. Artists express their thoughts, emotions, and views into their art, they use art to tell the world their stories. When people look at artwork, it can make them feel a certain way in general or about a certain thing. “Students who visited a museum not only showed increased critical thinking skills, they also exhibited greater empathy regarding how people lived in the past and expressed greater tolerance towards people different than themselves” (Alban, 2018). Art encourages individuals to think and express.
Some examples of art projects that can be used to benefit the setting/organization and population would be sculptures, paintings, and ceramic pieces. Unique sculptures tend to catch people’s eyes especially when they fit in with the theme of the store. In a boutique, many people like the idea of unique pieces of art, things that are provided by small mom and pop shops. Paintings dress up the stores, they can be used to balance the room and or help put focus on certain areas of the shop. Ceramic pieces can also be used for a couple of things, they are great for decorating, but also for showing off pieces of jewelry. At the boutique that I am donating my piece of artwork, they sell jewelry.
