Strategy Research Paper: Topic Proposal Assignment Instructions

Overview

Research in education is vital to determine the most appropriate strategies available to educators for student success. Therefore, as an educator, it is pivotal to read and apply current research to the practice in the classroom. As our classrooms become more and more diverse with a wide range of student abilities, research provides the strategies we need to implement supports for every student for their success.

Instructions

This assignment is the precursor to the Strategy Research Paper: Final Assignment in a subsequent module. For this assignment, the Strategy Research Paper: Topic Proposal Assignment, you will need to submit the topic you have chosen for your Strategy Research Paper: Final Assignment. Your will need your instructor’s approval of your topic before you begin your research.

Below is a list of potential research topics. You may select a topic from this list or provide a topic that addresses a strategy in which you are interested. A list of Special Education Journals is also listed at the end of these instructions.

Requirements:

· Provide a short summary that details the direction you plan to take your paper. Make sure you clearly communicate your position on the proposed topic. This will allow your instructor to give any direction as necessary.

· Type your document using Microsoft Word (no other software program is acceptable).

· Your paper must be written in current APA format, with a title page, citations, and references page.

· You must have one full page of summary (not including the title page and references page).

· You must use professional writing throughout your proposal. Do not use contractions (“can’t”), slang (“a lot”). The information needs to be paraphrased with in-text citations crediting the source. Direct quotes should only be used when it is difficult to paraphrase and still give the information accurately. Citations with the page number should be used with direct quotes.

· You are to provide a references list of a minimum of six scholarly sources, four of which are peer-reviewed journal articles written within the last five years.

· In your summary, you must connect your sources with the information you are presenting. As you pull data from your sources, you must use in-text citations to demonstrate the connection between your information and the sources.
