Developing options is one function an effective group/team can perform, group members come up with multiple ideas and solutions to a situation by not limiting themselves to just a couple of ideas to start with. Not saying all effective group members are immune to getting stuck with no ideas because that happens to everyone, it is how you handle this issue and come back with your group to overcome it. Taking breaks to freshen your mind, in order to take a different perspective on the project can help get the ideas flowing again. As a group, self-awareness is an essential ability to understand what your group is capable of when being creative and when it is necessary to take a break (Beebe et al., 2022). As for a negative outcome occurring, if a group member did not do this effectively would cause delays in the project and could force another member to work twice as hard to cover another member.

A critical function that influential group members perform is active listening. Active listening involves hearing what others are saying and showing interest and understanding through verbal and nonverbal cues. Influential group members who actively listen create a positive and respectful environment where everyone's opinions and ideas are valued (Suresh & Guttag, 2019). This encourages open communication, leading to more creative and effective problem-solving. Several adverse outcomes could occur if a group member does not perform active listening. Firstly, other group members may feel ignored or undervalued, leading to a breakdown in communication and reduced cooperation. Secondly, misunderstandings may arise due to a lack of clarification or follow-up questions, resulting in poor decision-making or ineffective solutions (Suresh & Guttag, 2019). Finally, without active listening, the group may struggle to build trust and develop strong relationships, which is essential for effective teamwork. Overall, active listening is a critical function of influential group members to ensure successful collaboration and outcomes.

One of the most effective functions that effective group team members can perform is to develop a positive personal style. This function means that members in the group are very happy about themselves, and they found ways to a group member behavior by being positive, and the tasks got completed in a timely manner (Beebe et al., 2021). This function definitely keeps the group positive and everyone knows that they did their part in the assignment as good as they can, because sometime we think we can get the assignments done because they look hard when we first glance at it, and we want to give up but when we get started on the assignment our whole perspective changes and we think positive and say oh we got this (Beebe et al., 2021). If members of the group did not follow this function the whole group would say forget this work and make one person do everything by themselves and everyone would definitely have a bad attitude throughout the whole time working together.
