“You must start your citations and annotations (Steps 1-3) with the current (crucial) op-ed piece about your topic, the hot topic you will focus on the entire semester and scholarly articles also.”
· Step 2: Collect 8-10 or more sources for your research project and in Alphabetical order write a citation for each source, ex:
Weaver, Jay. “American Airlines mechanic in Miami charged with sabotaging the plane.
It aborted takeoff”. Miami Herald. 5 January 2020. Miamiherald.com.
· Step 3: Write your annotations. Under each cited source, write an annotation paragraph, at least 4 to 6 well developed sentences, that include the following criteria:
· A summary of the main ideas of the source
· An explanation of how the source relates to your research topic
· An explanation of how the source relates/does not relate to your other sources.
· You might also choose to describe what new/different information this source provides, explain the weaknesses/strengths of the source, and/or tell what you find interesting about the source.
Criteria for Success:
This writing project will be evaluated based on the following questions:
· Does each annotation summarize the cited source, focusing on the main and most relevant ideas?
· Does each annotation relate the source to the research topic and tell how the source relates/does not relate to the other sources?
· Does the initial statement offer a thoughtful explanation of the research topic including why you are interested in the topic, and does the statement help answer the specific question(s) you want to explore through your research?
· Does your annotated bibliography show evidence of thorough proofreading and editing?
