Statement of Teaching Philosophy

Theoretical Framework

Discuss which theoretical framework is most closely associated with your approach to teaching. You can choose from the four theories discussed in Weeks 2 and 3 or use another theory you think is more appropriate. A mix of theories we discussed and theories you researched outside of the course is acceptable.   

Preferred Teaching Style

Identify which teaching styles and methods (e.g., lecture, dialogical, online, novel approaches/experimental) you prefer. Include a discussion of how your preferred style helps you make course content more accessible to students. 

Personal Mission

Discuss what you hope to accomplish as an educator. It would be helpful to identify specific goals that you have for personal or professional growth. 

Your statement should be 2-3 double-spaced pages in APA style. You are not required to write a concluding paragraph. If you choose to do so, try to summarize the main points from all three sections of the statement. Citations are only required if sources are utilized. Include any references in a footnote. Submit your statement as a word document (doc. or docx.)
